Easter tables don't have to be pastel or frilly... or cutsie! Even if a table does have Easter eggs and bunnies on it, it can take on a somewhat sophisticated yet relaxed look.

This year's Easter brunch table is all about keeping things informal, adding Easter elements and still looking grown up!

I used a complimentary color mix of navy and burnt orange... very different for Easter! And of course, lots of white to keep the table looking crisp and fresh.

Can an Easter table be achieved by using non-traditional colors... just wait and see...

LILY OF THE VALLEY TABLESCAPE

I don't think there is a sweeter flower in all the world as a Lily Of The Valley! It's perfumy aroma and scalloped white bell blooms are dainty and lady like!

These shade loving flowers are in full bloom at StoneGable just waiting to grace a little chippy table on the front porch...

Lilies Of The Valley call for a very simple, uncomplicated table. My grandmother's table worn and slightly warped with years of wear works so well with these innocent blooms!

A little bunch of white lilies of the valley are placed on white plates with intricate edges and scrolling designs.

The lilies are tied up in a quaint bundle with kitchen string.

The little bundle are framed by the plate edges!

Lace edged ecru napkins are overlaid with a cloud of organza... and gathered up in a silver ring.

The vintage napkins are ones my grandmother once had.

I love the juxtaposition of the Waterford crystal goblets on the chippy table.

A hotel silver footed bowl is filled with sweet lilies of the valley. It makes a simple and pretty centerpiece.

With the bridal veil spirea in full bloom... the lilies of the valley still are the stars of this table!!!!

STONEGABLE BENEDICT BREAKFAST ON THE BACK PORCH

There are just those perfect mornings that are made for breakfast al fresco... and this was one of them!

I set a tray with black and white Rooster dishes and fresh picked blooms from my garden. This morning StoneGable Benedict, a take-off of Eggs Benedict, was on the menu! I never make Eggs Benedict because they are so time sensitive and just a little hard for me to deal with first thing in the morning. So I came up with an easier, less fussy version. As I headed out the door I tucked a couple of my favorite home and garden books under my arm to read...

I am taking advantage of every nice day before the humidity and heat roll over us. And having a great breakfast on the back porch with a couple of good reads and a strong cup of coffee is perfection!

This tray (Pottery Barn) usually sits on my family room table. It is sturdy and flat. Just right to carry today's breakfast to the back porch.

The true inspiration for today's table began a couple of weeks ago when I visited my friend Deb and her chickens! The delicious eggs that are part of today's breakfast came from those girls! Thanks, Deb... I loved my time on your farm!

The breakfast tray gives a nod to these fine feathered ladies...

My place is set with a stack of black and white plates. The top dish has a proud rooster strutting his stuff on the plate... showing off for the gals, I'm sure! But you will have to take my word for it! At least until after I eat my breakfast!

Very fun orange flatware rest on a white hemstitched napkin with a monogrammed letter "P". See, black and orange don't have to be saved for Halloween!

A black and white checked napkin is casually laid on the tray. When dining outdoor, I always tend to need an extra napkin!

A squat stylized rooster egg cup hold a pretty brown eggs. Clementine slices circle the plate on one side and a cutting, from one of the big pots that flank our back door, rests on the plate too! This year my back porch is blooming in shades of salmons, papaya, and coral!

A sweet glass milk bottle holds little blooms! I love to gather flowers and put them here and there around StoneGable! Don't they look so pretty together on the breakfast tray!

Time for breakfast...

LILACS ON THE PORCH~ A MOTHER'S DAY TABLESCAPE

The Lilacs are blooming here at StoneGable and the air is filled with their perfume! It floats through our open windows and drifts from room to room. I wait all year for just a few days when the lilacs boom and cast their fragrant spell!

My late blooming lilacs are not really late at all. They are right on time! These delicate blooms are the inspiration for a Mother's Day table on the porch...

A small mesh table is set on the corner of the front porch. The view is so pretty from here! A lovely spot for my Mom and me to have a little Mother's Day lunch together!

This table is soft and feminine.. and very simply appointed. Primarily set in shades of green, the lilacs give this table a pretty splash of color. These two colors work so wonderfully together!

The tablecloth (Ralph Lauren) is a stylized paisley swirl in greens and white. It is the only pattern on this table. I am a huge fan of anything paisley! Such a girly pattern.

Each place is set with a stack of pretty edged dishes (all from HomeGoods) and a little bowl of lilacs.

SG TIP: Top off a place setting with an interesting little dish or bowl. You have seen these dishes many times over and over in other tablescapes, but what makes them look fresh is the pretty purple flower dish (Pier 1) that sits on the top. I am always on the lookout for seasonal or themed little dishes! Buy them on sale after the season!

I just bought two. When they go on sale I will buy 6 more!

My Mom doesn't have a lilac bush, so the little bowl of lilacs will be a take-home gift for her to enjoy.

A green linen napkin (Pottery Barn) is gussied up with a pearl napkin ring (HomeGoods). What is a girl's luncheon without pearls?

I did not stage any of the dropped lilac flowers. The breeze helped me out there! Look how the little flowers fell in the folds of the napkin. Serendipity!
