Intense color, stylized florals and upscale designs...Mikasa'sIndigo Bloom dinnerware is the inspiration for this table. Beautiful dishes are a joy to create a table around!
The kind people at Mikasa sent me this sophicated porcelain dinnerware. AND they also are sponsoring an incredible StoneGable Mikasa GIVEAWAY. More about that at the end of the post!
I was more than thrilled to set a luncheon table for a few good friends and show off this lovely dinnerware!
I have had a love affair with blue and white! It is such a versatile color combination. It mixes well with so many colors and adds that touch of richness to almost any style! Blue and white is a color pairing that never goes out of style!
Trying to settle on a color scheme for this table was not an easy task. Would I use bright citron green for a modern look? Or butter yellow for everyone's favorite traditional choice? Or maybe neutral tones. Linens, burlap and lots of texture with the indigo and white for an upscale chic!
Finally...
A shot of brilliant pink became the perfect compliment for the dinnerware! Both colors intense... one cool and one hot...to makes a dramatic table.
Indigo Bloom and Italian Countryside dinner plates sit on a snowy white tablecloth.
Alternating each place setting, Indigo Bloom salad/dessert plates and Indigo Bloom accent plates rest on the dinner plates. I love to alternate dish patterns. It brings such interest and attention to the table!
Each place setting is topped off with a vintage Chinese footed sherbet bowl. I love how well the mix of blue patterns play together! A hot pink napkin rose, accented with real rose leaves, sits in each Chinese bowl.
The effect is so striking against the Indigo Bloom dinnerware! To learn how to make this beautiful, easy napkin fold look for a post this Saturday!
Darling Indigo Bloom cups and saucers wait for coffee to be served. The cups have a wonderfully modern shape and feel that is balanced by it's updated take on a traditional floral design.
Not only did Mikasa send me stunning dinnerware, they also let me pick out glassware. French Countryside Crystal Goblets are my new favorites! The design is so pleasing and will be a lovely compliment to any table. I am truly impressed and delighted with them!
As an added grace note, little cobalt blue glasses hold hot pink knock-out roses and white astilbe for each guest to take home as a remembrance of our afternoon.
These patterns work wonderfully together! Keeping the color scheme limited gives this table a crisp, clean look and adding patterns keeps it inviting!
Roses in shades of pink fill a large blue and white ginger jar. I was very lucky to find 3 bunches of roses at my local grocers... all in different shades of gorgeous pink... and at $5.99 a bunch! Now that's what I call a bang for my buck!
The hot pink roses were the most breathtaking shade!
Their color works so well with the indigo pieces on the table.
Smaller jars and pots with lids round out the centerpiece.
Indigo Bloom soup bowls and extra napkins to catch any spills sit ready at the table. Rose petal fill the bowl until they are replace with a cold berry soup.
Indigo Bloom accent plates and dessert plates are alternately stacked on a creamy white pedestal.
These beautiful plates will be used for Cherries Jubilee, a dessert as classic and as loved as blue and white!
All our Indigo Bloom table needs are the guests... and you are invited!
Now that you have seen my Mikasa Tablescape it is time for a chance to win some beautiful dinnerware of your own!
The VERY kind people at Mikasa are giving away 5 Mikasa place settings of
to one lucky StoneGable reader!
Wouldn't this striking dinnerware look gorgeous on your table?

ReplyDeleteYvonne your tables are breathtaking! If I had to choose one teacher to teach me how to set a proper table it would be you. This one in blue and white is just gorgeous, and all the pretty touches of cobalt bring such fond memories of my Grandmother. I have several pieces of blue and white and even though they are rarely used in my home, I still keep them around as they're such beauties. Also today I watched Ina Garten set her table with blue and white using a apple green and white striped napkins and the fresh pop of green went wonderfully with the blue and white. Thanks again for such wonderful inspiration, tami

Thanks for the chance to win. I am partial to the blue and I LOVE it with pink roses. I did that at a Thanksgiving table with my Allertons Blue Willow. Instant charm. Already a follower and FB Mikasa follower. I always enjoy your tablescapes and pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for this giveaway. I follow you on Facebook too.
ReplyDeleteYou have me hooked on table settings now! I have a question, where did you get the red flatware that you used in the Memorial Day tablescape last year. I have searched for a set that is good quality and a bright red like yours. Also, I just purchased celery green dinner plates from Pottery Barn to go with red cherry salad plates and bowls from crate and barrel. You may need to look at them on both websites to help me. I wanted to know what you feel I can use to decorate the table with these dishes. This all started because I found some awesome cherry napkins in TN and had to find the perfect dishes to go with them! Thank you for any help. Colleen
ReplyDeleteOh my...I can only sigh at the beauty and the thought of having new dinnerware! Love your setting!!!

The website only offers "smoke" and Ruby red stemware in that pattern.

ReplyDeleteI have been a Mikasa lover for years...my Italian Countryside and Flame d'Amore are staples in my collection. It was so fun to visit Mikasas' website and drool over all the beautiful patterns. Thanks again for the opportunity to win Mikasa's Indigo Bloom...I am a follower of Stonegable and "like" Mikasa on Facebook.

ReplyDeleteAs I perused your post today I just had to giggle. I had on my wedding registry the French Countryside goblets but due to the store making a mistake, I never received any of them. The store accidentally showed I had received all the goblets. I was very sad.

ReplyDeleteHello again Yvonne, thank you for your lovely comment. I certainly DID see your ginger jars! I studied each and every picture and was knocked out by all of them :o)
ReplyDeleteOh Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteYou keep surprising me with wonderful ideas - I just love those pink napkins in the blue and white! I definitely want to learn how to do those! Since I live in Australia and it is probably too far to send the lovely dishes I am entering to send the set to my daughter in New York. When I last visited her I made her a set of place mats that would match the indigo bloom set so nicely. Knowing her though she would also match it with hot pink since that is her favorite color. I think my favorite would be the antique white as I have seen the wonders you do with your basic white plates. I am doing a blogpost on this giveaway - focusing on placemats http://africanaussiecrafts.blogspot.com/
Blue and white is such a timeless combination. I adore your table and would love to know how you created the napkin roses, they're perfect with the china.
ReplyDeleteThat is just lovely! I love how you did the roses and the color pops against the beautiful blue.

Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most beautiful table settings I've seen. The combination of the blue and white with the hot pink color is so stunning. I have the same goblets. When I lived near Charleston, SC, there was a Mikasa distribution center not too far from me. They would have these tremendous sales twice a year. So count me in this giveaway. I have been a happy follower for a while.
I just got back from Mikasa's site. I have the Italian Countryside dishes already. I really liked the Garden palette dishes for summer.
ReplyDeleteI love this blue and white dishes and would be excited to win

ReplyDeleteI'm back to tell you some of my favorite patterns.
My daughter has chocolate swirl and I love using her dishes.
On their site, I love daylight ~ so serene ~ lavender lane, so sweet ~ and for that pure white plate, French countryside.
I hope you are having a lovely week. It rained here all day today {no need to water the garden!}

ReplyDeleteWent to the Mikassa website -- my favorite pattern continues to be Italian countryside. It coordinates beautifully with my other dishes
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. Is the giveaway for Midnight Bloom or for a set of the winner's choice? I'd love to enter but I don't know how to post this on my sidebar...guess I'm not very modern! ;-) I just love your tablescape! I am a great fan of blue and white and the pink gives it the perfect POP!
ReplyDeleteHello Yvonne:
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful table. The moment I see blue and white my heart sings, but the touch of you perfectly colored bloom napkin brought it to another level.
