I always say... "Thanksgiving dinner is the most work intensive meal of the year". At least it is here at StoneGable!
Even though most of us get lots of help, there is a whole lot of prep and cooking going on!
The last thing I need or want to do Thanksgiving morning is to serve my out of town family and guests a big sit down breakfast.
Here's an easy, serve-yourself way to feed all the people who wake up in your home on Turkey day and have a beautiful seasonal centerpiece all at the same time...
I'm so pleased to be one of the bloggers participating in...

My vignette is a do-it-yourself breakfast for the busiest cooking day of the year! I started out with the menu...
I made it very easy and not too heavy. Remember your guests don't want to fill up on a heavy breakfast when they are going to eat turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie... and all the other great dishes you are making!
Make breakfast easy on yourself... plan a menu that is mostly store bought and takes little or no prep!
Here's my Thanksgiving morning menu...
ORANGE JUICE
COFFEE
PUMPKIN BREAD
ORANGE CRANBERRY NUT BREAD
FLAVORED BUTTERS AND CREAM CHEESE
ASSORTED YOGURTS
GRANOLA
HARD BOILED EGGS
FRUIT
The only thing I'm doing is hard boiling the eggs!
Set your table a few days ahead. The center basket filled with dishes, pumpkins and flowers makes such a pretty centerpiece!
When I am creating a centerpiece with dishes and flatware that will be used I like to coral it in my large round sturdy basket! I think everyone should own a basket like this one. I use it sooo often!
A vintage french linen piece covers the bottom of the basket.
Because none of my guest and family will probably sit around the table for breakfast, I created a tall flower arrangement from a white urn (Pottery Barn Outlet) and a few bunches of BOGO grocery store mums. The green mums dictated the color scheme of the table. I filled in the arrangement with faux greens to give it an abundant fall look!
Vintage flatware is stashed in an ironstone pitcher and a mix-and-match grouping of plates and leaf bowls are perched on a small white cake stand... all fitting into the large centerpiece basket.
The rest of the centerpiece is filled in with white pumpkins in assorted sizes and burlap and toile acorns. To see a tutorial for the acorns, click HERE.
I just love using big chunky candlesticks. They bring height and interest to any table! They are tucked behind the centerpiece basket!
More mix and match plates and bowls on a small white cake stand sits just outside the basket ready to be used!
Organic greek yogurt is placed in a bowl of ice and a small bowl of crunchy granola sits beside it.
A large ceramic basket of green apples and clementines are washed and ready to be eaten. My family are big clementine lovers!
Fruit and a bowl of nuts in the shell (along with a nutcracker) are great things to leave out after breakfast for the munchie crowd!
Who would know that these scrumptious breads are store bought? I'm not telling!
Cut and arrange them on a plate the day before and cover them tightly with plastic wrap. Easy-peasy!
I put them front and center on the table!
Juice is served from the table while coffee is at the coffee station on the kitchen counter.
With just very little prep work I can have this easy Thanksgiving Continental Breakfast on the table in no time!
As our friends and family wander down in the morning, they can serve themselves and linger over some yummy, seasonal foods... and I hardly did a thing!
Here's wishing you a happy stress-less Thanksgiving morning!

I haven't commented for awhile, but I am firmly entrenched in my routine--every day I read your blog!! I love it and appreciate ALL you do to make it a beautiful and learning place to visit. I love that you added filler to your store bought flowers! Such an easy idea! Why didn't I ever think of that?? I also love that basket! I must look for a good one like that. All the little things add up to a feast for the eyes and tummy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Linda in Lititz

ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I love this idea of a buffet. Even though we don't have out of town guests we have family that comes over in the morning. It would be great to have something out they can snack on, not to mention for the kids who can't keep their hands out of the Thanksgiving food!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so beautiful Yvonne!!! You put together the most amazing vignettes and any guest would feel so honored to be greeted by that gorgeous breakfast in the morning. You pour your heart into everything you do for your home and completely capture the essence of true hospitality! :-)

Such a beautiful way to start the day! Christmas is our biggest meal but Thanksgiving is definitely a close second. This beautiful vignette and simple breakfast idea could easily be tweaked for Christmas as well. Thank you for sharing your love of home and beauty!
ReplyDeletePerfect Yvonne! Truly a lovely breakfast vignette…and useful! Can I have mashed potatoes in one of the green leafy bowls instead of greek yogurt please!
ReplyDeleteYou create such a beautiful spread Yvonne! I'd love to share a meal there with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteI actually plan to bake my pumpkin bread this week and freeze it for breakfast Thanksgiving morning. :) I'll make a breakfast egg casserole the day before and refrigerate so it will be ready to bake that morning. I'm not hosting Thanksgiving dinner but will have my daughter and son-in-law here. All I have to make to take to my grandparent's house is dressing and a dessert. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always, Yvonne!! You succeeded in making me hungry! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as usual Yvonne! It not only amazes me how beautifully you pull together your vignettes and photograph them but to also take the time to bake and put out such a fabulous spread of food...that it what puts you and your blog over the top!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
XO Barbara
What a great idea when having overnight guests Yvonne! I host all the holidays here too and my mom and I are the ones who do all the cooking...we both love to cook just like you:)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a pretty table!! And... are you taking orders? I would like a slice of the pumpkin bread and the orange-cranberry -- two of my favorites! ;D
ReplyDeleteYvonne, you never cease to amaze me with your beautiful tables and vignettes. You pull everything together so beautifully and I know your family and friends feel so loved and special!! Would you mind if I asked where you got the beautiful round basket? Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYour tables and settings are literally always works of art. I bet its hard to "dig in" when they are that beautiful....you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
Genius, Yvonne! I'm skipping Thanksgiving in KY and coming to your house! The only thing you can get to eat in my house on Thanksgiving Day may be a bowl of Lucky Charms ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely the hostess with the mostest!!!….A "five star" table!..
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful and delicious idea that I'm saving for Christmas morning. All the kids will be home and ravenous! Will definitely add monkey bread so there won't be a mutiny.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE your breakfast buffet! Great idea to buy wonderful store bought breakfast breads and add yogurt, and fresh fruit. Love the green and white color scheme, too. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family..
ReplyDeleteOh...how...beautiful! I love it! Pinned it! Too lovely! :D
ReplyDeleteYvonne, you are the Queen of tables. This is so gorgeous and welcoming. Love you attention to all the details!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Very pretty! You always do such a lovely job!
ReplyDeleteThat does it, I am coming:):) I would even help you get dinner ready, and help serve it, and help clean up.....is this working?????:):) XOXO
ReplyDeleteI would’ve thought all those pieces and decor would have been someone around $200 bucks!! I love the outside a nice touch! Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you are doing wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI love tablescapes and yours it gorgeous, but I have never been able to figure out what one would do with all the things on the plates (pretty decorative things). When you sit down to eat where should your guess put this stuff? And is it assumed the food is put on a buffet? I'm speaking generally, not just to your table.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to have a table to "look" at and one to eat at. Lol
What a gorgeous breakfast vignette! You've inspired me to do this for Christmas!! Love every detail! ~Heather
