The late fall day was absolutely magical! Blue skies, a slight breeze coaxing the last autumn stained leaves from the trees so they could dance across the cut fields of corn...
What a beautiful day to celebrate Thanksgiving... al fresco!
A list of bloggers and their sites are at the end of this post. You won't want to miss even one!!!!!
Our side yard spills into the adjoining field that was filled with tall rustling corn stalks all summer. But once cut, opened up to the bucolic vista that we hadn't seen since late spring! Oh how I love this view!
It was the perfect spot to set a Thanksgiving table... under the almost bare red maples looking over the neighboring fields!
The table was set very casually, even using a drop cloth for a tablecloth!
No placemats, no chargers, just the basics... mostly in white!
The late afternoon sun casts long blue shadows over the casual table!
What would a Thanksgiving table be without a nod to a turkey! I purchased these Pottery Barn plates last year and have been waiting to use them!
Natural linen napkins are sandwiched between the two plates!
One of my favorite holiday traditions is to have a big bowl of nuts in their shells around and waiting to be cracked and eaten. I remember this from when I was a little girl.
I tweaked this family tradition just a tad and put a small white bowl of nuts at each place.
Everyone gets their own nut cracker too!
No flowers or frills on this table... a mix of white pottery, pumpkins and candles... in no particular order run down the center of the table!
I love the stem on this funny little pumpkin!
The white table lets the view shine!
Chairs, rockers and a bench become seating for this casual Thanksgiving table.
It doesn't take much thought to find things to be thankful for outdoors this perfectly beautiful day!
I hope you all have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, Yvonne! I have those turkey plates and they look great with Mikasa French Countryside, too. I am going to acquire the Italian Countryside one of these days. I saw some at HG the other day, but resisted. Now I wish I had picked up the dinner plates at least! Maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteSWOON Yvonne! The field and the casual elegance of your table, I feel like I just opened my favorite magazine...and I DID! I adore the touch of the individual nut bowls and crackers. Nuts were always a holiday treat at our Christmas table. I'm pinning and pining to be at your Thanksgiving table!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! We use drop cloths for everything here--curtains, dog bed covers, table cloths, pillow and duvet covers--so versatile--just a little dye or stencils and voila! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the natural elegance of your tablescape--I wish I could see it just after dusk with the candles lit; so very pretty! Thank you, Yvonne, for sharing...and Happy Thanksgiving!
A breathtaking bucolic scene!…An exquisite table set with elegant pieces mixed with casual pieces…you work magic!!!…may I borrow your wand?!!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - magazine worthy! I've been watching those turkey plates at the PB outlet - hoping for a sale! They look great on your outdoor table!!!! I keep thinking well run into one another at the PB outlet or my other fave, Calico Corners!!
ReplyDeleteDoreen, let's just do lunch and go to PBO!
DeleteWhere do you put the food? :)
ReplyDeleteI serve Thanksgiving dinner buffet style!
DeleteWhat fun! Because we live in NW Wisconsin, we are more likely to have snow at Thanksgiving. But for years we celebrated Thanksgiving mid October, just so we could be outdoors for the event - complete with bonfire. Your cropped field would be a great place for a bonfire. :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG Yvonne...these pics are absolutely beautiful!!

Yvonne this is sooo breathtaking! Love the unexpected all white...gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the last photo. My maternal grandmother always had a large bowl of assorted nuts and a handful of nut crackers on her table when it was time to display and serve desserts. I"ll add the nuts to our dessert table this Thanksgiving. I'm also placing the napkin between two plates as your lovely table showed.
ReplyDeleteOh! Mercy me! This is such a gorgeous setting. Love every part of your inspiration. So happy to have stumbled upon this gathering of Thanksgiving tablescapes...
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving setting is everything i love. The setting in an open field, white and natural linens and dishware, lanterns and casual comfort! I have been using dropclothes for my table too.
ReplyDeleteYvonne this is so lovely! You always make everything look so special and inviting,

ReplyDeletePretty table- Love the idea. We just got 2 inches of snow so it's not even a possibility to do around here!
ReplyDeleteWhile your tables apes are always gorgeous, I just can't get over the beautiful setting! What a perfect spot to have your home
ReplyDeleteIt is just perfect, Yvonne! I can just imagine enjoying a leisurely meal at your fabulous table. I don't blame you for being so in love with your view! I'm loving your turkey plates too! Around this time of year my mother also used to put a bowl of nuts out for everyone to enjoy and they stayed out through Christmas. Funny - I thought she was the only who did that. lol
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though your day was perfect. Every thing looks lovely.
ReplyDeletePerfect setting for a perfect table. Loved seeing the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County. My sister and I used to make trips to the outlets in Lancaster quite often when we lived in Baltimore and it was always a favorite way to spend a Saturday. Your photos remind me of our drive through the back roads of Amish/Menonite country.

ReplyDeleteA dream Thanksgiving setting! Beautiful, Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully and what a lovely day! We have been having lovely days too but I hear that is going to end. It couldn't be a prettier setting.
ReplyDeleteThis table setting is scrumptious! And it really captures the crispness of a beautiful Fall day.
ReplyDeleteI love this table Yvonne...eating outdoors is so special! I hope it's warm enough you are actually able to dine there for Thanksgiving...that would be so much fun, especially toward evening with lit candles. I loved the nuts at each place setting. Thanks for taking us outside for this wonderful table. The views are are sooo pretty! I bet it's even pretty when the corn is in the field. :)

Oh, so pretty. All of the whiteness is a change for Thanksgiving! To dine in the fields is so perfect for a Thanksgiving dinner.

Absolutely beautiful--as always! Could you please share where you bought the black chairs with the double crossed backs? I've been looking for a dining table and chairs for my breakfast nook and those would be PERFECT! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous Yvonne!! Love all the white :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love that you took it outside :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Yvonne, you never disappoint but I must say you really blew this one out of the water!! You always have the coolest ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally speechless. Your casual table is stunning. Perhaps it's because I live in PA too but it's just. so. lovely. Gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteNice tablescape however, where in the world do you put all the serving dishes for a Thanksgiving dinner?? Remember, LESS IS MORE. It's all about BALANCE. At times people get too carried away with decorating and forget making things functional. One key word to ALWAYS remember BALANCE.
DeleteYvonne said she serves her Thanksgiving dinner buffet style. Nothing more functional than having people serve themselves. And you should read her Best Ever Thanksgiving Idea for a fantastic idea how to make set-up and clean-up extremely functional.
DeleteYou rock, Yvonne! Love your style!
Judith
Love the white. You have such a wonderful variety of pieces for this tablescape. The pilgrims would be proud of this lovely outdoor setting. I have a large variety of serving pieces in the harvest cream ware patterns. I love them for the holidays. I know you will get a lot of use out of the pieces you used in this tablescape.
ReplyDeleteCandy
Oh Yvonne! It is magical in every way!!!!!! I love the simple beauty and peace from all the white... I remember nuts from my childhood too and just bought a bag at the grocery store last week! I love that we're on the same wavelength :-) What a beautiful setting you have to create in, those views are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us!! I want to linger here.... ~Hugs, Jennifer
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteStunning! I have been loving white for about a year now, and your table makes me love it even more. The setting is spectacular. You and Anita at Cedar Hill Farmhouse have the most beautiful outdoor areas for gatherings.
Uncanny! I have been working on a post about nutcrackers and nuts because I, too, remember that from my childhood. I have my mother's nut crackers. Most of the time now I use them to open resistant caps on drinks and bottles, but they bring back such good childhood memories of the holidays with my extended family.

Every time one of you shares an outside tablescape I bemoan the fact that you sure don't want me to do that at my house! I feel like I can smell the air and feel the breeze as I look at your stunning photography. Every element of the table is perfect. You are amazing! Thanks so much for joining us!
ReplyDeleteOh Yvonne! It's beautiful! sigh...wish I could sit right there and have lunch with you and talk and laugh! You are so beyond talented it blows my mind!
ReplyDeleteHeather
gorgeous pictures....what time is dinner?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, as always, Yvonne. I would love to come have Thanksgiving dinner with you...your hospitality is unmatched.
