And speaking of giveaways~ I recently won a giveaway at Haden News. Kendra's fabulous prize was this chicTea Forte Ice Tea Brewing Pitcher and Nantucket Tea Sampler!
I made a brew of white ginger and pear iced tea! Yummy!
It looks so fancy and upscale to serve iced tea in this... not to mention it is delicious! Thanks, Kendra!
Visit Haden News for great recipes and food tutorials! I used some of Kendra's recipes in my weekly menus!
StoneGable Iced Tea
Now how hard can making Iced Tea be? There are zillions of ways and techniques to making the the perfect glass.
Here's how we do it at StoneGable and people love my iced tea~ not bragging, but truth. I am not from the south (does wishing count- and could I please live in Savannah?) so I don't make sweet tea. I'm not from San Diego (another dream spot!) so it's not California Iced tea either. It just how it is done at StoneGable.
StoneGable Iced Tea Recipe:
1 gallon good cold water (We have good well water. If your water has a funny taste, so will your iced tea. Opt for a jug of bottled water)
6-8 tea bags of good black tea
2 tea bags of herbal fruit tea (raspberry, red zinger, peach are some favorites)
1/2 container of Crystal Light Lemonade for 1 pitcher
1/4 cup Splenda
Pour water into a large pitcher. Add tea bags. Let steep on the counter for 3-6 hours or out in the sun for 2-3 hours. It really depends on how strong you like your tea, and what tea bags you use.
Squeeze the teabags and remove.
Add Crystal Light and Splenda. We are figure friendly. Stir!
Chill in frig. Serve over ice. Add a lemon, mint or fruit for a little extra flavor.
If you want to serve immediately, pour over ice cubes made with iced tea. Iced tea ice cube won't leave you with watered down iced tea!
I make iced tea ice cubes and keep them on hand. I always have a couple of empty ice cube trays in my freezer ready to use. I fill them with ice tea and add any fruit I happen to have. Also, adding the zest of a lemon makes an intensely lemmony iced tea!
Another great way to flavor your iced tea is to freeze in-season fruit on a baking sheet in your freezer and add it like ice cubes to your iced tea.
Enjoy this classic summer libation!
I am participating in Foodie Friday at Designs By Gollum. Michael Lee our famous author/ hostess works hard to give bloggland the best recipe forum. I always say~ it's the best cookbook! Thanks, Michael!

This looks so good. I use Kool Aid Lemonade and the kids even love it. Hardest thing about it is trying to keep some in the fridge. I got one of those ice tea makers. You should try that out. I love mine. Nothing beats a batch of sun tea though. I never thought of making ice cubes out of iced tea to keep it from getting watery. I will have to do that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful recipe. I am already a follower. I always keep ice tea in the fridge, over 32 yrs now.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win the ice cream/sorbet maker. We are trying to eat more healthy here and this would be fun too.

Yvonne, it has been really hot here the past few days. I've been sitting in front of your blog "cooling off". I've lived in San Diego (well, actually La Jolla), Charleston (next best to Savannah) and am from the south. I have to say your tea is the best looking I've seen in all those places!!! The tea ice cubes are really adding "the ice to the tea"--great idea! And, I hope you are enjoying your tea in air-conditioned comfort again.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd love the ice cream maker and more recipes from you to put in it!!
Best,
Bonnie
Yay for 200 posts!!!
