GREETING GOD EACH MORNING

When you open your eyes each morning how do you greet the day? More importantly how do you greet God?

Factoring God into our day can have a major impact on it.

Let's talk about the habit of spending time with God each morning...

Let's face it, prayer is a discipline. It takes a conscience effort to make prayer a habit!

The Bible teaches that prayer unleashes great power, comfort, wisdom, hope, blessing, joy and so much more.

Now isn't that a wonderful way to start each and every day!

My daughter-in-law's mother quotes this verse often...

THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT. Psalm 118:24

It's a reminder that each day is a gift from God... a fresh new day! It's a new day to look for all the good God is doing in our lives and celebrate God and all He does for us!

Jesus set the example for us.

He would get up very early in the morning, go to a quiet place where He would not be disturbed and spend time with His Father!

AND RISING VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING, WHILE IT WAS STILL DARK, HE DEPARTED AND WENT OUT TO A DESOLATE PLACE, AND THERE HE PRAYED. Mark 1:35

Jesus knew that He could not face all the demands and trials of His day without first spending the very beginning of it with God!

It was God's power and presence that gave Jesus the power to do God's will.  We too can be powered by God!

If we are not spending time with God and in His word we are starting each day with a huge deficit! Prayer is food for our souls!

But when we wake up and make God a priority we power our day and start it with the right attitude!

Experts say that it takes 21 days to create a habit.

Here's my challenge... Will you get up each morning, open you eyes and recite Ps 118:24 and look for ways to rejoice and be glad. And then will you find a quiet place and spend time talking to God and reading His word? First thing in the morning... even if you have to get up early to do it!

Will you agree to do this for one month? Let's develop a life changing habit together.

After one month it's my prayer that God shows Himself so big in our lives! It is my hope that we are more joyful and can handle problems in our life so much better.

After a month I know that we will no longer imagine starting our day without God!

If you are not sure where to start reading God's Word here are two suggestions:

  1. This is a wonderful idea! I have developed a habit for praying each morning: a friend sent me a prayer bracelet. I keep it on my Plax bottle so when I brush my teeth every morning a pray while brushing! It works for me. Hope you have a beautiful day and are ready for the newest blast of snow:(:(:(

  2. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I just went to your post on the book of Proverbs and love your idea DOR teenagers to tackle it. Am instituting today with my 14-year-old twins in my 16-year-old. Your blog and your example are great inspirations.

  7. It's wonderful spending time with the Lord everyday. I have been drawn in his presence and feel his closeness since I committed myself more to prayer and reading his word daily in the last 5 years. It can't be explained but the rewards of being "intimate" with our heavenly Father fulfills my life like never before! It is truly a relationship with him and not just being an after thought. This is a beautiful suggestion to fellow bloggers~~~Blessings~~~Roxie

  8. This is a terrific and inspiring post! With the season of Lent starting this Wed, it is an excellent time to practice "Greeting God Each Morning" and I hope to do this as well.

  9. Yvonne -
I find this post so lovely and so timely! My Sunday school class is studying Philip Yancey's "Prayer". I have learned through faith and studying to not make my prayers sound like a Christmas list of things I want, and rather make them a list of thanks. To start each day with the thought of "Thy will be done" is a way to accept the day and make it worthy of His grace. Blessings, Linda @ A ToileTale
