Christmas and Paperwhites are a perfect combination.
They are delicate and fragrant snowy blooms that enhance any holiday decor.
One of my bowls of Paperwhites is in full bloom right now...
This year I put a cluster of paperwhites in a large scalloped bowl.
Here's how they looked when I planted them...
This is how the paperwhites looked a week ago...
And this is how they look today. Filled with beautiful blooms...
Snowy, showy clusters of blossoms...
Twigs, I spray painted white, work as stakes to keep the heavy heads upright... and the twigs have a wintery look that work with the paperwhites!
Once the paperwhites started to shoot up I put white and silver balls and pinecones around the base of them to hide the dirt.
Here's a closer look...
My buffet is decorated with lots of mercury glass...
I love love love mercury glass!
This sweet pedestal bowl held a beautiful bouquet of flowers and now it holds greens and pinecones.
A mercury glass votive on a cupcake pedestal is also filled with evergreens and frosty pinecones.
I have six of these darling little pedestals that I got from THE EVERYDAY FARMHOUSE SHOP. Aren't they adorable?
Paperwhites and mercury glass are a new favorite Christmas decor!

I, too, always fill the house with paperwhites during Christmas - they remind me so much of my grandmother! I always have to stake them. I insert a few small bamboo stakes and then I tie red ribbons all the way around the cluster. However, I'll try white twigs this year - yours is a much dressier look! Thanks for giving me a new idea!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I LOVE your tablescape. What a great tip about the spray painted twigs. Thank you! We used assorted DIY Mercury glass pieces in my daughter's centerpieces for her October 26th weddng. Happy healing.

ReplyDeleteHope you had a truly enjoyable Turkey Day yesterday! Yvonne, these pics are so inspirational and beautiful - a perfect way to decorate all winter long. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLoving the idea of spraying the branches. Jacqueline @ Home told me she uses white hellebores only during Christmastime. Beautiful vignette, Yvonne. Happy Holidays !
ReplyDeleteYvonne: The paperwhites look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDidn't think that they would bloom this fast.
Hope you are feeling better and still resting.

ReplyDeleteYour paperwhites look delightful. Thanks for the tip of slipping in some painted twigs, to hold them up.. But how did you manage to get them flowering so quickly, your home must be like a hot house !
ReplyDeleteHi yvonne. I have never grown paperwhites. Not sure why, they are beautiful. Have a wonderful holiday season.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Yvonne! I love Paperwhites! They make a cold winter day bright! I hope you are feeling better and will be up and around soon! Thanks for the stunning pictures!
ReplyDeleteI have the same bowl, the paperwhite bulbs, and the mercury glass! I love your artful arrangements and will attempt to improvise your design today! Thank you for your stunning inspirations. I usually just lurk and drool but had to tell you how you always inspire.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Beautiful! I loved how you stacked the round cake plate with square plates....then your paperwhites still the show. I see many other wonderful ideas for my buffet thank you!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty! My Mom always forced paperwhites for the holiday. I think I've done it once.
ReplyDeleteYou had ulterior motives in getting your home decorated for Christmas, what with your knee surgery. It looks lovely & I hope you are healing well, without complications. Listen to the doctor & rest & elevate!
I, too, love paperwhites, but I struggled with inventive ideas to keep them from flopping. I tried twigs, ribbons, growing them in a narrow, clear, tall vase.......you name it. Then! I got a great tip! Use 1 c. gin in 1 gallon of water for your paperwhites. I mix this up when I plant them and use it everytime I water them it works!!! I swear!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tip! Thanks!!!!
DeleteYvonne your paperwhites look STUNNING!!!
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteSimply exquisite, dear friend!!!
