I don't want a garden anymore... okay?
I always feel this way around the end of July. You can have all the garden STUFF until early September!
The weather is so hot and humid, with little rain.. the weeds seem to be winning.. really the only thing that is happy in my garden right now are the tomatoes... and maybe an eggplant or two! And even they seem to be languishing! (WHINE, WHINE, WINE... Oh, yes.. thank you... I think that might make me feel a little better!)
I keep telling myself that the sweat dripping off of my upturned nose and broken dirty fingernails will be all worth it in a few short weeks. When my freezer is full of great summer flavors, and my pantry holds jar after jar of jewel-toned goodness... I will feel a much fonder affection for my garden!
But right now I am feeling a little (okay... a whole lot) guilty for not being grateful... especially since I just wrote a post earlier today about BEING THANKFUL.
Well, while I work on my attitude...

Denise
The weeks menu sounds fabulous. There are several recipes that I am going to try. Thanks for the invite and thanks for hosting such a fabulous party. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI am nOT enjoying my garden right now either!!! It is so hot, the WEEDS are definitely winning here and it is too darn hot to work out there. ReplyDeleteI made caprese salad last week and couldn't get enough! It's truly a summer delight, although I agree with you, the garden is not right now. Your menu sounds so good! Thanks for hosting Menu Monday ... you can never get enough kitchen inspiration. =)
ReplyDeleteYvonne, at this time of year, all I want is September:@) Sounds like a tasty week at SG and I thought Cathy's photos were beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a menu, it simply sounds pretty delish Sweet Ivonne. I'm posting my Victoria's birthday party great looking and yummy cake. The cake was chocolate and strawberry with strawberry jam filling; although we didn't make it, it sure was a great choise for the girls and the grands, lol..Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful and blessed week.

Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the garden. The drought of 2012 is to blame for countless bad gardens.
Thank you for hosting your link party.
Have a good week.
Pat
I ate a good dinner and am now drooling over this weeks menu :-)
ReplyDeleteHad hamburgers tonight and sweet potato fries (YUM). I do not like a bun, so my patty and ALL the fixings (Sauteed onions, mushrooms and bacon, sliced tomatoes mayo and mustard) were wrapped in 2 large lettuce leaves ( red leaf).
North central Florida has been hot and humid. The only things that seem to be growing rapidly have been the weeds.
Would luv to sit across from you one day and just talk food!
Cheers, Gee
Hi Yvonne - thank you for featuring my mini banana breads. I always drool reading over your weekly menu.
ReplyDeleteThought you might like to know that I tried to click on the Jordan Pond Popovers, but the link doesn't seem to be working.
Thanks, Pat! It is working now!
DeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had luck with any gardening of vegetables here on this side of the Prairie! This years drought has destroyed even my, once fertile, herb garden!BUT...we are making plans for a vegetable garden for next Spring...just the same! I love home grown tomatoes fresh from the vine!!! I don't can or freeze...so just a few things would suffice and some to share with neighbors! Thank you, dear friend, for hosting this weekly meme! Right after my annual physical (this week)...I'm making a cream pie! Ha!
Fondly,
Pat
You always make me so hungry, Yvonne!! Thanks for the party :)
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at my garden and felt the same way! Thanks for hosting!

Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteWe have had a great garden this year up until the last couple of weeks and the rain went away and the heat came in, but it is still better than it was last year, we have been blessed. Your menu looks delicious for the week hope you have a great week and thanks for hosting!
Miz Helen
My hubby just brought in the last bucket of cucumbers! Whew!! I sure love all the fresh produce, but I get tired of the dirt. Your menu sounds wonderful. Thanks for hosting and happy week ahead.
ReplyDeleteGardens are a lot of work and consequently we only grow a few herbs and tomatoes. You have my admiration. But just remember, you can never have too many homegrown tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteThank you as always for hosting. I've linked a refreshing summer salad with cherries, goat cheese and pistachios that's bound to help you forget the heat.
Sam
I wish we would have moved into our new house sooner - it was too much to try to even start a garden this year :/ Hopefully next year! Thank you for hosting - have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about the container flowers as you do about your garden...tired of watering them all the time...happens to me every year too. As always, the menu looks just yummy. Something wonderful every single day!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about gardening... my daughter signed us up to take care of the school garden this week.... more zucchini.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a week full of delicious meals at Stone Gable! I have a basket full of tomatoes I have from my MIL's garden. I love anything with tomatoes! Sorry I missed your party…….

As usual, Yvonne, you have made my week's menu planning so much easier. Thank you so much for including me in your post and for the link back to my blog. I think I will start with that gorgeous cheese Danish.
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne! I will take any of your leftover wine!! (hehe!) Your killer fajitas look like a must-try!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is lovely! I look forward to perusing it when the children sleep :).
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting! I've shared my recipe for a roasted tomato pie, a summer favorite of ours.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing menu!! I'm copying down some of those recipes! Thanks for visiting Overcoming Busy today.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about gardening; but I just think about when we have snow on the ground and I'm eating fresh veggies. Great menu!!!! Thanks for hosting! Have a fabulous week.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have found your wonderful blog!!! I love it so much. My garden is doing so wonderful in Vancouver, B.C. The weather has been perfect, not too hot, some rain and sun so everything is wonderful. Last night I picked my supper from the garden, except for the salmon of course. Take care and thanks so much for all the recipes, ideas etc.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by from Organizing Junkie's Menu Plan Monday!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it's going to be in the low 100's but humid in Las Vegas today.
Your menu plan looks delicious! The panzanella salad looks so amazing. I've seen it prepared a several cooking shows recently.
I hope you have a terrific week
We're having panzanella this week as well! It's such a great summer side dish or meal.
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteHi! Thank you!!! Yes you can use the photo and link. I left you a message on my site as well. These little medallions are really good.
Pat
Thanks for hosting and I love your garden fresh menu!
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne! Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I've had to take a step back this summer and haven't joined in any food parties at all. I hope to be back in form this fall with more free time to be more 'social'. As always, your menu looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteGreat summer salad. Thanks for hosting. I am late to your party, but at least I made it on Monday. Gardening is great. We all get inspired to plant and then we are over whelmed with veggies, especially zucchini.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post and fabulous week of eating at Stone Gable. I love your menus. Please feel free to use the recipe and photo here. I am flattered. Have a wonderful evening. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI am also planning on having Panzanella this week. I can't get enough of it in summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. I've been in a bit of a cooking rut and am hoping to get some inspiration from the links.
You always share the most fabulous recipes ... thank you! And, thank you for your kind note about our Fall mantel being part of BHG.com ... I truly appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and for the invite to link up! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a relief to know that this time of year I'm not the only one who promises she'll never plant another vegetable! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so terrible at preparing beautiful food... these features are stunning! What a neat idea for a linky party!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me to your party and thanks for hosting!!
ReplyDeleteI still have a zillion zucchini off the same freaking plant. I have frozen enough for the year, I've backed, put it in soup and even spaghetti sauce. I'm sick of zucchini. I cucumbers were a flop, I think the heat and no rain did them in. My beans got eaten by a bug, the only thing in the garden to have that problem:( Yep, and tomatoes out the nose. I look like a tomato I have eaten so many. I've got them on a table out front of the house for free, and they always seem to disappear, which makes me feel better. I live close to the farmer's market.

Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday to you....
I just have a little comment. I wanted to "pin" one of your recipes from this week's menu (Mexican Explosion Salad) but I got an error message that said "there's nothing there to pin" - or something like that. Am I doing something wrong (probably!) or might it be due to the design of your website?
If you have any help or suggestions for me, that would be great. The salad sounds so yummy and I know the people who follow my "boards" would love it too.
Have a great weekend and thanks so much.
Barbara
I just love all of the recipes that you plan each week. This is such a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing on Marvelous Mondays! :)
ReplyDeleteJulie
Thanks so much for adding me to your weekly features last week! I saw if quickly on Monday and didn't get a chance to respond until now! It's been a hectic couple of weeks around here! Even now, I should be doing something other than sitting here on the computer!
ReplyDeleteThanks again! It made my week!
