This lilac table, set last year, is one of my very favorite StoneGable tablescapes. Like many of my fellow tablescapers, a great deal of time, care and energy goes into setting, photographing, take apart, writing, editing and posting each table we offer almost weekly.
I am estimating that 9 hours (or more) and 170 photographs went into putting together this lilac tablescape post. That does not include making the napkins or shopping for the tableware.
I have decided to reprise a favorite table about once every 4-6 weeks and post it as part of Tablescape Thursday. It seems a shame to have something that is such a labor of love only having center stage on my blog for 24 hours. I now have a big enough repertoire to offer past tablescapes I think would be enjoyed by my dear readers.
Since I am meeting many new people to blogging all the time, I hope to present some of my best work for them to see as well.
I hope you enjoy this revistied post!
The weather is getting warmer and the lilacs are in full bloom. Their hedy fragrance drifts across the back porch and it is the perfect night for dining al fresco and listening to some fabulous jazz!
Jazz and spring just go together.
The inspiration for this table were these lovely lilacs. One of my very favorite flowers, these beauties are so short lived. So when they bloom... I swoon!
A small table is set on the back porch to enjoy the remains of the day. It is dressed in a white damask tablecloth (Goodwill, a real gem of a find). The gentle breeze loves to play with it!
The layers upon layers of plates sit on a silver handled tray. These trays are more utilitarian than fine, but I thought they looked so pretty with these dishes.
The dishes are an eclectic mish-mosh of white. Nothing new. I just got a little carried away. Don't you just love to see all the subtle hues of white and the wonderful plate edges?
The purple transferware is "Charlotte" by Royal Staffordshire (The Barn Antiques, Strasburg Pa). This has become one of my favorites for its lovely color, beautiful design and sweet ruffly scalloped edge.
The table is only big enough for two place settings, so each one had to make a big statement.
Double layered napkins are caught up in a silver napkin ring. The purple napkin were easy to whip up from a remnant. Click HERE to see an easy tutorial for no sew mitered corner napkins.
A silver tea pot is repurposed as a vase to hold beautiful lilacs (The Barn Antiques). It gives a kind of grace to the table.
Clear iridescent water goblets were a wedding gift to my Grandmother and passed on to me. The are one of my beloved treasures.
Purple flutes are ready for persecco (Target).
Little white bird salt and pepper shakers (Pier One) perch together.
Tiny purple flowers adorn coffee cups. They are placed on mismatched white saucers. I love this look... it's so charming!
Music, lilacs and laughter mingle together and filled the air as we dine on the back porch on a glorious spring evening.
I am participating in Tablescape Thurday at Between Naps On The Porch.
Oh Yvonne! It's midnight and I'm cooking for Allie's Confirmation tomorrow and here I sit- drooling over your table! LOVE everything about it- especially the transferware! Gorgeous

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I just love lilacs too! When we moved to the desert I knew I would never smell them in my garden again... Then one day I found a lilac bush designed for my climate! I bought it and am pampering it, I put it in a pot and I am praying that someday I will have some blooms like yours!
ReplyDeleteLovely Table... My favorite color and I love the purple flutes!
~Rainey~

I keep inhaling as if I could capture that lovely scent through the screen! What a BEAUTIFUL table, Yvonne! Everything is so delicate & chosen with such care to create this special scene. Your treasured heirlooms blend beautifully with your bargains & the entire ambiance is so soothing because of it.
ReplyDeleteWell done, my friend!!
No new table for me this week...my company had to reschedule for this weekend, so last week's is still in place.
Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. The china reminds me very much of my pattern Fairy Dell by Spode. Just lovely. Thanks for sharing.
Robin
Good Morning, Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful treat to start my day!
Your lovely lilacs make me long for my own lovely blooms...
We are a few weeks behind...but the little buds are getting bigger every day!
Your tablescape always makes me smile and imagine a memorable event about to unfold ♥ blessings for the day & always, Maria
Purple and silver just seem to go together for me. Again, another beautiful table! Love the lilacs. I miss my lilac tree this year. There are those gorgeous Home Goods dishes to tempt me again! I guess I am just going to have to gas up the car and drive to every bloody HG til I find enough for 8! They are just so pretty! The transferware is so pretty and delicate. When I was going to do the purple table for Easter I fell in love with these deep purple goblets. I am just going to have to go and get them. Ugh! Every time I come here my "I Want" list gets longer! The scene from the back porch is beautiful for the dinner also.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring all your table settings. Where in the world do you store all those dishes? I just have to know!~
Have a blessed day~

ReplyDeleteOh, those lilacs! I needed some of those for my purple tablescape this week! Your table is gorgeous -- so inviting. All the different purple elements work so well together. As always, your photos are stunning -- love the floaty tablecloth! Thanks for the link to the napkin tutorial, too. I plan to try it soon!
ReplyDeleteI can smell the lilacs! Your tablescapes always inspire me and this one is especially beautiful as I love lilacs and purple was my mother's favorite color. She would have been so delighted to sit at that table.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely post.
Best,
Bonnie
This is so beautiful...such a fresh and elegant table. The silver teapot with lilacs is heavenly! I only have one lilac shrub and the blooms are so elusive...but wonderful! Your purple transferware is so pretty...I have been eyeing some purple dishes over at Nancy's dishes...may have to spurlge on a few pieces! Your tablescapes are always a treat for the eye! Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely STUNNING to me. I can't wait to send this link to some friends for their viewing pleasure. The colors are lovely, and everything is perfect.
Lilacs are a favorite. We tried to transplant some when my family moved south. They DID bloom for years, but the recent Georgia drought did them in, sadly.
LOVELY!!
OK...post above should read Manuela's place.Sigh.

ReplyDeleteI so look forward to your table each week...you always have something beautiful. Wow, your table is really breath-taking, Yvonne. I love lilacs, this year has been one of the best in many years, but they seem to be fading fast. I love your purple transferware, just beautiful. Using the silver trays is a nice idea, you can just lift everything at once to take it inside.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is by far one of the most beautiful blogs I visit. For some reason you weren't on my blog list... we'll just have to fix that won't we.
ReplyDeleteI love your "eclectic mish mosh of white". The floral plates are especially beautiful. That is one pretty tablescape.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and for your kind comment. I'll be posting backyard photos as we start setting things up. Stop by anytime.
Perfectly gorgeous Yvonne. As always!

ReplyDeleteOh the lilacs, layering of the dishes and the linens blowing in the breeze make a lovely picture. This is just perfectly beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYOu are amazing!
Hugs, Lana
Yvonne, What a beautiful table! I thought I'd commented yesterday but it obviously did not go through. I love the Charlotte pattern...it's one of my biggest sellers! I've got some in polychrome brown but the lavender is just stunning. Have you noticed that each sized plate is very slightly different? The baskets and flowers differ just a bit. Your table is gorgeous, as always. I love the layering of the plates...you didn't get carried away as far as I'm concerned! ;-) I literally just sold out of the lavender Charlotte...a lady bought the 7 plates and remainder of cups and saucers I had. I've got platters and just got in a hand dish (like my header) that's lavender/purple but with the Charlotte pattern. It's gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work! It's always such a pleasure to visit your blog.
ReplyDeleteIn a word, Gorgeous..!!

ReplyDeleteHugs, Jeanne
Yvonne, I am stunned at the beauty of your table! I can't stop staring at it!! The lilacs and the silver is so elegant, you are amazingly talented!! Next time I'm in the area I would love to stop by and say hi. We were originally going to drive up through Philly but I was tired and thought a quiet day in Lancaster would be more peaceful. I love it there.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice evening
xoxo
Love, love, love your table. Those soft colors are so romantic. You do such an amazing job with all you do. I can't get enough of your pictures...keep 'em coming :)
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! I've been hoping for an inpiring post and here it is! Your table is absolutely stunning! Need I say more!...I gave a bridal shower a few years ago and I used billows of lilacs w/ glass vases, but the silver is spectacular!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are breathtaking! I love every one, especially the purple transferware.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Of course there were lilacs on my table this week too...mine are white and this is the first year my bush was large enough to cut a few sprigs. I also used a silver coffee pot on the table, but you did elegant and I did casual. I love lilacs...love the purple and white dishes and the fabric for the napkins, perfect! I just want to come to the meal that requires that many dishes:)
ReplyDeleteI am weary...perfect word, but I'm getting better now that I'm home. I almost feel guilty about that as my dad can't have the mental vacation that I can right now. Thank goodness for technology. I talk to mom on speakerphone and she squeezes dad's hand and smiles in response. It is a difficult time, but I continue to count all of my blessings and thank your for all of the prayers.
Hello there talented and lovely lady,
ReplyDeleteWhat pure delight and, 'a lift to my spirits', your most beautiful of 'Lilac and jazz' themed ,tablescape vignettes that you have created, truly is!~ Really it is beyond exquisite; a masterpiece I would say!!
The lovely lilacs, displayed to perfection in your gleaming and beautifully polished silver teapot, the purple transferware dishes, the linens, the mauve candlesticks, the lovely teacups, even the fresh and breezy outdoor location; utter and 'oh-so-heavenly', perfection!
(I must go back once again, just to visually 'drink in' all of the respendant loveliness)!
You are most cordially invited to also come by for a visit to my blog when you are able my dear lady!..,(As you may notice in the two posts prior to this one, I've experienced a few 'blog hiccups' and so forth lately, yet all is well and onward I go)!..,
..,Do feel most welcome to scroll down the whole page; it gives an overall 'flavor' of the whole blog in general I find.~ ( In fact, though it takes just a few moments longer, that's what I'm doing with each of the blogs I visit these days. I see and discover so much more that way)!..,
On that note my dear,I must go and see not only this post once again as mentioned , but also what other delights may await with your blog as well!
Have a marvelous remainder of the week and a lovely weekend!
Cheers and hugs from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
Yvonne, this is truly one of the most exquisite tables I think I've ever seen. From the lilacs in the silver coffee pot to the gorgeous china to the crystal to the damask cloth you found at GW, it is absolutely stunning! You socked it out of the ballpark with this. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI am taking what I call a sanity break from my workmen. I needed to get away so I came home where I have computer access to sit and blog a bit. I hope to be back blogging again soon. Miss you!!!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Hello there once again dear lady,
ReplyDeleteJust a wee note to mention that I did just as I said I would, and I am most happy to report that I am now decidedly feeling; 'as happy as a lark in a meadow full of flowers' and 'as sprightly as a sparrow' my dear, bloggy friend!
Wow!~ Thanks ever so much for the beauty and boundless inspiration that you share with us each and every magnificent post!
Cheers from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
Yvonne, I was just reading about lilacs today. I've never grown them, but love the look and fragrance. Such a shame they are so short lived. Your table is exquisite as always. No one does layers like you do! I don't know how you find that many different size plates that work together, but you do every time. Absolutely charming table!
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteYou set a most spectacular table. The lilacs are stunning and I adore all of your silver. A girl after my own heart.
Thanks so much for visiting me, it is a pleasure visiting you!
xx
Eye candy--all of it! I swoon for lilacs, too; thanks for this lilac-inspired table!
ReplyDeleteYvonne~how I wished I could have borrowed these ideas for my sons wedding. Their colors were lilac and silver. This is the most *stunning* tablescape I've seen. You've certainly given David Tutera some competition!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to gather a few lilac bouquets from our garden this weekend to surprise my DIL with.
Sweet wishes,

ReplyDeleteContinue the fantastic work!
Wow neat! This is a really great site! I am wondering if anyone else has come across something
ReplyDeletesimilar in the past? Keep up the great work!
I'm running through your previous posts since I am a new follower. This is just stunning, so summery feeling...Our lilacs don't bloom as early as yours, more like late May. I love those pretty amethyst champagne glasses..I never realized how beautiful silver is withthe lilacs...you sure have an eye for design!
ReplyDeleteI just keep coming back to this post, Yvonne. It's so charming...and soothing...and indulgent, but in a quaint way. I love everything about it...
ReplyDeleteSue
Stunning!
ReplyDeleteLilacs are one of my favorite too. Our parents lined the north edge of their property with lilacs. In the spring I would gather armloads and bring them into my room so I could smell them at night.
ReplyDeleteI got married in May and we filled the church with the lilacs and of course my bridesmaids were in purple.
I love you sharing old posts as some of us aren't that old of bloggers. The transferware and goblets are exquisite and set against that lush green background, it is just perfect.
I love your tablescapes on your deck. And I love lilacs. Great post! It feels like spring!
ReplyDeleteOh so lovely. I look forward to all your tablescapes new or revisited.
ReplyDeleteI'm very new to your blog!! I love reading it and look forward to your new post every week!! Thank you for this tablescape!! Lilacs remind me of my childhood. My mother and I would always pick a bouquet of lilacs and take them to my teachers. I looked forward to that moment every year!! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAlways reading,
Lacey
This was one of my favorite tables of all time! I'm so happy to have the chance to take it all in again! I'm in awe and so appreciate the care & attention you give to your delightful tables! Happy Mother's Day to you~
ReplyDeleteYvonne, this is one of my all time very most favorite tablescapes that you have ever done! I remembered it instantly & could have SWORN that I commented on it last time, but I don't see me. Maybe it was before when I was too shy to "talk" to people. LOL I doubt it!
ReplyDeleteJust Gorgeous...top to bottom, end to end. I can just close my eyes & imagine the wonderful smell. Can't wait for mine to bloom this year, too.
Thanks for showing it again so I could let you know just how much I loved it the first...and second time around!
fondly,
Rett
Yvonne I am so glad you did a reprised post because being new to blogging I missed this beauty!! I love love your purple transferware, Everything looks beautiful as always Yvonne! Martina
ReplyDeleteJust breathtaking! I am glad you posted this again as I am a relatively newcomer to reading blogs!
ReplyDeleteI think my sister and I should change the name of our blog. . . Take Six (Because just as with shoes and chocolate, one is never enough) I believe we should add "tablescapes" in there with the shoes and chocolate!! *wink*
ReplyDeleteOnce is most definitely NEVER enough with a tablescape. Thank you for sharing this beauty again. I think the lilacs in the silver teapot is simply stunning!! A beautiful table, as always Yvonne! Have a very happy Mother's Day!
So glad you are re-posting, as I've been around less than a year, and this is my first time seeing this! I enjoyed this so much, everything about this is just beautiful. Love the lilacs, silver pot, transferware, tablecloth, flutes (wish I had seen these), what don't I love? Beautiful, and such a good idea. You're right, it is a lot of work and as much as I love the hunt, and the assembly, I wonder, is it worth it? So glad you think it is, so that I can see your gorgeous tablescapes! You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteis that Moda fabric in those napkins? I think I have some in different colorways! Love lilacs myself. Hope mine I planted take root. Love this table. it's so charming.
ReplyDeleteOh, Yvonne, I remember this one! It evokes the same feeling of tranquility and peace this time as it did the first time I saw it. Absolutely stunning! So glad you shared it again. It's definitely too beautiful to get lost in the archives...
ReplyDeleteYvonne -
ReplyDeleteI could never see this post too often. Living in Georgia, I miss the lilacs I grew up with. There is nothing like the smell of lilacs. I used to have a bush outside of my childhood bedroom window and my mother would leave it open as much as she could to give me the fragrance to fall asleep to. What heavenly dreams I had those nights. Lovely, lovely post.
Linda @ A Toile Tale
One Word......BREATHTAKING! This is being bookmarked. Thanks for sharing such a lovely table.

I loved it last year and still LOVE it! I just wish I had access to some lilacs, and could do a beautiful table like this!!! I ahve the dishes, just need the flowers:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely on the reprise! I haven't seen this one before, and it's exquisite! The individual elements are so wonderful, but your pictures are breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite things! Purple and Lilacs :) So pretty and crisp!
ReplyDeleteOK...you have climbed inside my head yet again!
ReplyDeleteI was just talking to my husband about the very things that you shared. I did a tablescape that took about 9 hours, just like you said. PLUS, with my work schedule, I couldn't even finish the post in time to link to BNOTP. I was so frustrated and felt like I was the only one.
I feel so much better knowing that someone who is far more experienced in these things has the same dilemmas. That is a lot of time to spend on something, especially in the infancy of a blog, when you know that it will not be very widely read. So, thank you for making feel not so alone!
I am SO GLAD you reposted this--it is exquisite! So fresh, so elegant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I absolutely admire and appreciate the tremendous amount of time that you put into each of the 'scapes and posts--thank you! You are a blessing to us all!
ReplyDeleteLove/hugs/blessings,

Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteI saw this table last year and it really was one of your prettiest! I love your napkins and your Charlotte transferware. But I especially love your fresh lilacs in the silver teapot. Gorgeous!! Their fragrance is one of my favorites. Thanks for becoming a follower of my blog a few weeks ago; I'm picking up new followers slowly, but I hope, surely. Happy Mother's Day.

Yvonne -- I do rmember this table -- such a stunner. I am crazy about lilacs. Mine haven't bloomed this year yet, but soon. Great idea to repost. Joni
ReplyDeleteYvonne -- all of your tables are encore worthy....but this one especially so. Thanks for this lovely repeat. I adore your beautiful transferware.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, your lilac table is gorgeous. I knew when I saw the little picture on Susan's blog that it was yours. I really love the Easter table as well. Those cute little bunnies are so sweet. I am anticipating opening my homemade vanilla soon thanks to you. I will let you know as soon as I open it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Have a wonderful day.

Just gorgeous Yvonne! Love the light purple colors and can imagine enjoying a relaxing meal at this beautiful table! You're so right, many tablescapes are worthy of repeat performances and I'm sure everyone will enjoy them! Happy Cinco de Mayo:@)
ReplyDeleteLilacs and White with a hint of silver!!! Could the vignette be more striking than this, I think not!!! I can smell the aroma intoxicating the air! How fortunate to have them blooming here too!!! Thank you for sharing. My very favorite thing is the lilacs WITH the transferware to match! PERFECT!!!

ReplyDeleteI close my eyes and smell the lilacs...such sweetness.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely table, perfect for the season and in keeping with the purple/pink tones that seem to be dominant right now.

Just as gorgeous this time as last! I don't have any lilac blooms yet! As soon as I do I must do a lilac table!
ReplyDeleteJust stunning once again!! No wonder your table looks so wonderful...9 hours and 170 photos. I feel tired just thinking about it!

Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteSuch a refreshing table! The outdoor setting is so light, airy and refreshing. . .perfect for Mother's Day weekend! I enjoyed this last year (when I was a lurker)and am thrilled to see it once again!!! Many times during the year I revisit your tablescapes, recipes and Sunday Scriptures!!! Keep the inspirations coming my way . . .new. . .or revisted. .. I am always blessed!
Fondly,
Pat
This is stunning! Lilacs take me immediately to my childhood home. My mom had them all over in our farm gardens. I think I can smell them at this table:-) No lilacs here yet, their leaves are not even out yet! I'm not a huge fan of transferware but I just love this pattern! Beautiful
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning table! Those lilacs drape perfectly in the silve pitcher, & what a great contrast! The china is beautiful & i am a sucker for white damask!
ReplyDeleteHi! Your table setting is stunning! Though I missed this post but I certainly enjoyed browsing this entire post. Your tablecloth is simple but the lilacs add so much glam and beauty on your tablescape. You impressed me so much about this idea.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, you might want to visit one of my favorite Spandex Chair Covers store on the net. Their items are really fabulous and are really perfect if you were having a big party to throw out.
It doesn't get much prettier thn lilacs and purple transferware! Gorgeous table!!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning pictures. That transferware is just too pretty. Everything is just amazing. I am drooling with all the glam and beauty. Great pics.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, oh MY. I am entranced by your tablescapes! I love doing up a table, and I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo inspired by you - you WILL be hearing from me from the country in Virginia (we live near Middleburg, in Philomont)! Oh, could you PLEASE tell me where you got the silver chargers?
ReplyDeleteBless you!
