Winter and white are a natural fit this time of year. The weather here is cold and blustery and seems to etch a frosted glaze over the landscape. I was inspired to set an all white table. An all white table with a little touch of silver and a tiny tad of gold
Each place was set with a stack of mismatched white dishes on top of a silver handled utility tray that was called into duty as a charger.
I chose these white plates for their lovely edges. Because there is SO much white, I was very aware to choose plates that had textured edges to give interest.
A sparkly little frosty pine cone sits in the bowl as a little treat for guests.
A white damask napkin looks like a bow folded in a silver napkin ring.
The centerpiece is a tall pedestaled vase (I use for kitchen utensils) filled with white spray painted branches and giant white snapdragons.
It's been so long since I have purchased flowers. It was a joy to bring home a tissue wrapped bunch of these magnificent blooms!
Mercury Glass inspired candles give a warm glow to the table. It was VERY difficult for me to set this table without a speck of color. Using lots of candles brought the warmth to the table that makes it inviting.
To add a little extra sparkle I added a pretty candle collar.
Votives, that mirror the other candlesticks, illuminate each place. Each candle is nestled in a little faux snow in the bottom of the votive.
Dessert plates are set on a tiered pedestal. I added glitzy pine cones and a few silver ornaments on the bottom tier.
Antique porcelain silverware caddies hold dessert forks and spoons for coffee. These were an auction treasure! They are embellished with hand painted gold fleur de lis and edging.
Winter white and frosty, this table calls for a warm and cozy dinner...
Italian Wedding Soup
Lobster And Seafood Crepes
Roasted Asparagus With Shaved Parmesan Cheese
Flaming Cherries Jubilee
Yvonne, you have outdone yourself! It looks so elegant and light. Marvelous. Also, I think the italian wedding soup is similar to the German one, no? Anyways, the menu sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe all white with the touches of silver and gold is exquisite! You have such a wonderful collection of white dishes!!! I remember when you posted your corner cabinet in the dining room filled with white dishes!!!! I am joining Susan tonight too, so please come over!!! I am still not feeling well, am missing the meeting I go to EVERY Wed. evening:( They will all know I must be sick to miss it! This is so beautiful, a frosty table is so right for the day today!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteYvonne, this is a gorgeous, elegant table! White snaps are one of my favorite winter flowers, and all the creamy white layers of dishes with texture make a beautiful statement. Love the idea of using the pedestal dish to hold the dessert plates. The added glitzy cones and ornaments are a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteYou never fail to share something incredible!

Yvonne, What a beautiful tablescape!!! I have white dishes similar to one of these and I paired them with pewter chargers and white flowers for the holidays. I just love them. I tried your taco cheese soup last night for our Sugar Bowl Party. Arkansas didn't win but the soup was sure a hit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Yvonne. So clean and pretty looking!
ReplyDeleteYvonne, this has to be the most beautiful tablescape I have ever seen! You are such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteOh I think this is one of my favorites that you have done and boy have you done some beauties!
ReplyDeleteMy heart is coveting your Fleur de Lis. I guess you know why. :)
I was wondering where you found your water goblets? I have similiar glasses that I bought years ago from Southern Living at home. Unfortunatley there was a flaw in them and the stems kept breaking off. They replaced them for me every time until they stopped making them all together. I love the "bubble" look and have been looking for similiar glasses ever since...to no avail. Until now:)
ReplyDeleteJanet
For Janet,
ReplyDeleteI found these bubble glasses 2 years ago on sale for 97cents each at Reading China And Glass outlet.
I bet you could find them on ebay!

I'm wondering if the salad plate under the bowl is a new piece or one of your collection we just haven't seen before? I adore your layering of plates. .. in any color!
