Look what I found growning out of my compost bin!
I noticed them earler this summer and watched them as they tendrilled their way up and over the chicken wire fencing and out into the yard.
I waited patiently as their vines died and the gourds finished growing. I was so pleased!
I picked a whole basket full of Autumnal bounty that I did not plant and did not work for!
Now that's an unexpected BLESSING!
You are blessed! They are absolutely beautiful, so colorful and well shaped. Enjoy, Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable little gourds!
ReplyDeleteBecky K.
They are wonderful...
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed :D
I hope it works again next year!

wow, how cool is that?! I would've been so excited to see them growing away!
ReplyDeleteSending a sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm. What a wonderful surprise - the gourds look great all piled together in that basket - so many textures and colors! We've also been pleasantly surprised with foxglove and daffodils growing next to our compost pile back in the woods. It's truly like finding a little treasure chest, isn't it? Ciao, bella!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice unexpected gift from the garden! The colors and textures are spectacular, Yvonne. As always, your photos are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surpirse! You are one lucky girl. Carla
ReplyDeleteWow, you got those for free from your compost bin? That is great. I had a bunch of those that I hope I could keep and reuse, but they rotted. I should have put the seeds in the ground and gotten my own crop. They are so expensive in the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful and what a wonderful way to watch your "bounty" grow!
ReplyDeleteMine never even grew in my garden! Wow..They shine the light fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing!!! I love them and can't wait to see how you use them. I also love that beautiful basket! We once had a tomato plant come up that we didn't plant! I figured a bird dropped a seed......maybe??? XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteSometimes our greatest blessings are unexpected! We once had a pumpkin grow beside our back steps. We had left a pumpkin to "return to the earth" there in the previous fall. Interestingly, only one grew from the many seeds but it was a delight to watch.
ReplyDeleteYour "unexpected" gourds are really lovely.
Best,
Bonnie
Even your compost is talented! :)
ReplyDeleteI love those unexpected blessing's that God sends us from Heaven!! XXOO, Damaris
ReplyDeleteNice colors and textures, too! Maybe they'll come back next year!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gourds and autumn basket. It is a blessing to be able to recognize the blessing as well.
ReplyDeleteYvonne,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your "Harvest Blessing". . .isn't it amazing what JOY we find in God's goodness!

Pat

Hi Yvonne...
ReplyDeleteOhhh...what a blessing indeed! My friend, these are some of the prettiest gourds that I've seen. Lovely shaped..and sooo awesomely bumpy! hehe! And to think that all you did was to throw a few seeds into your compost! I must admit that I don't know a thing about growing gourds so I enjoyed the bit of information that you included...thank you! Ohhh...have fun decorating with these pretties! I'm glad that you shared them with us!
My friend, thank you so much for coming by and taking a peek at my Cinderella sweater pumpkins! I really enjoyed your visit and sweet note..thank you!!!
Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
PS...I really haven't had the chance to tell you just how much I enjoyed your fabulous articles and photos in Belle Inspiration, Yvonne! Your picnic in that lovely garden was spectacular!!! GREAT BALLS OF FIRE..these are AWESOME, Yvonne. And, you didn't even plant them. So....how did they get there? There must have been some seeds...right?
ReplyDeleteAnd, can't you dry them and they will be pretty for a long time.?
Thanks for the nice words you gave my little olden and very humble kitchen. It is nice and big and lots of storage space but a little raggedy around the edges...just like me!! :))
hugs, bj
Isn't it fun when something unexpected happens! What a treat...I would enjoy them that much more!
ReplyDeleteGod loves you and He wants you to have gourds! How is that for Thanksgiving early? XX!
