BERRY CRISP IN A JAR... EASY, MAKE-AHEAD DESSERT!

This is a must-try dessert! Believe me... just go ahead and make it. You can thank me later!

And what makes this dessert even more fabulous, other than the taste and that it is in a jar, is that the components of this dessert can be made ahead!

Just keep everything in the freezer and when you want a fabulous dessert... you have it!

I could not wait to finish taking pictures so I could dig in!!!! And it was scrumptious!

Let's get started and make this yummy dessert...

Use fresh, in season fruit to make this crisp extra delicious!

STONEGABLE BERRY CRISP

Crisp...
1/4 cup pecans
1/2 cup oatmeal
3 TBS dark brown sugar
3 TBS flour
2/3 tsp cinnamon
4 TBS butter, melted
4 biscotti, crushed (no chocolate on the biscotti!)

Fruit Filling...
4 cups fresh fruit
1 1/2 TBS flour
1/4 cup sugar

good quality vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix the pecans, oatmeal, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, butter and biscotti in a large bowl and mix.

Put oatmeal mixture onto a parchment lined, rimmed baking sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes, tossing half way through.

Cool completely.

At this point the crisp can be frozen. I love freezing it in mason jars.

While the crisp is baking make the fruit filling.

Add the fruit, flour and sugar to a pot and cook until it begins to simmer. Simmer 3-4 minutes until the fruit thickens. The time could vary depending on the water content of the fresh fruit.

At this point the fruit can be frozen. When it is time to use it defrost and reheat.

To assemble...

Fill a 16 oz. ball jar with 1/3 fruit filling, add a good size layer of crisp and a big dip of ice cream!

OH, YUMMY!

This is a wonderful dessert to have on hand for unexpected guest... dessert for the family... or when you need something sweet!

  2. What a great idea for a picnic or BBQ! And I think I'll use this idea for my daughters wedding. I'm in charge of the sweets table and think that they would look great in little jam jars.

  10. Swoon! Can you freeze it assembled in the jars, or did you just mean to freeze the components separately? I can't wait to try this!

    1. I froze all the components separately, because I wanted to reheat the berry filling.
