THE ART OF FLOWERS


I recently attended a luncheon birthday party given by a dear friend of mine. To our great delight the table was sooooo beautiful and girly! We could all tell that Marilou, our host, put a whole lot of love into her vibrant and oh, so pretty tablescape! 

She placed a single rose at each place setting to greet us. It was such a happy surprise!

There is something about getting flowers... and there is a real art to flowers when they are presented with such love and care...

Here is the beautiful rose that greeted me...






Artfully wrapped in a soft scalloped napkin and caught up in a white picket fence napkin ring!

After we all ooooohed and aaaaahed and smelled our rose, they were whisked away and put into a vase of water until we retrieved them as we left.


I often use flowers when setting a table and sometimes artfully pick one or a small bunch to welcome my guest at their places!



Here are a few tablescapes to inspire you to practice the art of flowers at your table!



In this DAFFODIL PROFUSION TABLE  over 500 daffodils make a sunny table. I laid one daffodil across white plates and gingham napkins... but when my guest left they each took home a big bouquet!










Who doesn't love peonies? A beautiful, full, fragrant peony is cupped in a footed bowl in this BLUE WILLOW AND PINK PEONY TABLESCAPE










The sweetest little bouquet of lilies of the valley from my garden are all tied up and waiting for my guest at the LILY OF THE VALLEY TABLESCAPE









Wouldn't you love to sit down to a table smelling like lilacs? A bouquet of lilacs and violets in tea cups greet my Mom and me for a LILACS ON THE PORCH~ MOTHER'S DAY









A tulip gracefully draped across a stack of neutral colored plates makes a striking presentation in NEUTRAL AND NATURAL TABLESCAPE








Next time you are having guest for a meal... practice the art of flowers...put one, or a few at each place setting to welcome them!

    Beautiful flowers! Whats your secret to get the ants off of the peonies? I love bringing the peonies in to decorate, but I always bring in a trail of ants as well.Thanks

    BEAUTIFUL!!! I have a question though. Does your table setting colors have to match your room colors. I have a red dining room (white trim) with red / gold / green drapes but I own a lovely set of blue willow china. Can I use the blue in the room??

    I absolutely love attending a gathering when it's apparent that the hostess has made it a point to set a beautiful table full of details. Perhaps my favorite pieces of your friend's table iare the feminine scalloped white napkins and the place cards. I love what she wrote.

    I agree with Leslie....this would make a beautiful book for everyone to enjoy....as I scrolled thru your photos, it was like a walk down memory lane from my grandmother Bertha's tulips, my great aunt Mattie's lilly's of the valley and pansys, and the daffodils and iris that grew along side the winding farm road where I grew up....

    Spectacular, each and every table setting... So many beautiful ideas from which to choose. Monday Book Club is coming for lunch next week and each will have a flower at her place setting.

    Each and every table is stunning, but the lily of the valley stole my heart--they're my fav! I just finished setting my table with egg cups holding sweet little Snowdrops. I think I'll be able to use lily of the valley for Mother's Day, since Spring is so late this year!
