Here's a little peek at part of my foyer. Bobby is done painting the walls (Benjamin Moore Sonnet) and now we are working on having a small settee slipcovered and replacing the mirror above the buffet.
Even though we are still painting the trim I decided to bring a little spring into the foyer...
I brought the chair from the dining room over to the foyer, and added my NO SEW BURLAP POSY PILLOW.To see the tutorial, click HERE.
I added just a few very simple thing to the top of the painted buffet... shopping my house for each piece!
The lamp, urn with ivy and a beautiful-degas-note-card-turned-picture make a trio of differing heights and soft spring colors!
All these pieces were borrowed from my study!
On the other side of the buffet is a white urn filled with faux blooms (from a local shop), a little nest with pretty aqua eggs and a small stack of books.
The top book is about Degas and his ballet paintings and sculptures. I adore Degas. The Degas rooms at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York are AMAZING! I could spend all day there!
Degas was not only a prolific painter and a core member of the Impressionist, but he was a master sculptor.
My very favorite Degas sculpture is of a little 14 year old dancer. I am totally enthralled with this piece!
You can see a picture of her and read about this world renowned masterpiece HERE.
As soon as the settee is done I'll share the other side of the foyer!

ReplyDeleteit's soooo absolutely fantastic! You're a very creative person!

Yvonne, your spring foyer is classy and beautiful. I love those muted robin-egg blues you've tied together. I share your love of Degas, and have that same work in a framed enamel over copper that I won at auction. The MOMA rooms sound like something I should add to my bucket list!

ReplyDeleteYour foyer is lovely, Yvonne. I love the color in the mirror frame.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Yvonne. I love that mirror. I think it is the Ballard's one I have had my eye on for some time, but really don't have a place for it. I just love the color.
ReplyDeleteAll of your lovely decorating just seems to peacefully tie together in harmony.
ReplyDeleteI find that particular color of blue so soothing....and the notecard turned print is so clever!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so springy! I love that mirror - the color blue is gorgeous!

I love the aqua mirror! Why do you want to change it? Happy easter to you Yvonne. Karen from Visalia
ReplyDeletea beautiful display of spring time colors. Love the little nest xo
ReplyDeleteEvery detail is very pretty. I love the color of the mirror frame...to me/my screen, it looks more seafoam green, not blue. Is it blue? Either way, it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss a posting as to how your eye surgery went?? You made me smile when you said you were "shopping your house." I have my seasons closets, yes plural...because I'm out of room but why get rid of stuff that you might need. No, that you KNOW you will use. My almost nine year old granddaughter, loves to create a tablescape. Even if it's just her grandfather, her brother, her and me. Think I'm teaching her well. Who knows, she may be a blogger one day. Very creative little girl and it's not "stuff" to her, she knows the stories behind each piece. If I could share anything right now, I would say to young mothers to share the history and story with your grandchildren. My grandson, age fourteen, is interested in the history of WWII. He has my Dad's dog tags and treasures them. Just had to say all these words. Let me add this. My mother-in-law and father-in -law were the best. Among her things were two little sheep. One lying down and one standing. Brought them home with us. They called out to me. Every special dinner, the little lambs are with us somewhere on the table. Little Baylee knows to go get them and why they are there. Happy Easter to all.
ReplyDeleteMay I come over and shop in your study, too???
ReplyDeleteI love how you decorated your entry. The colors are so pretty for spring, and your faux blooms look so real!
I look forward to seeing your settee!
Have a wonderful Friday, m'dear!
xo,

Hello Yvonne. Kinda new here but I have posted before just never introduced myself. I am so inspired by your decorating. Everything is beautiful. Your new entry is so lovely and fresh. I also love ballet and Degas. The way you have decorated with that is perfect. I have a question. It is probably decorating 101, but I am just now getting back into redecorating our home after 22 years in a career in education.
ReplyDeleteThe lovey blossoms in the white urn stand up very tall. Mine always flop out to the sides so that nothing is in the middle. What do you use in the bottom of the urn to keep the branches standing up tall?
Thank you for your wonderful blog. I look forward to each one.
Very pretty, Yvonne! The stair remodel looks lovely with the new paint colour.
