WINTER IN THE DINING ROOM

This morning I picked up my camera to get a few shots of my dining room....

pared down and bared down after Christmas and basking in the golden morning light that streams through the windows.

The whole room seems to glow...

Morning is my favorite time of day...  and my dining room is a great place to be in the morning. Even on cloudy days its bright!

Can you see the snow on top of the bushes outside. We had a beautiful dusting of light snow last night.

I've added a couple of new things to the dining room since Christmas.

The new clock was a Pottery Barn Outlet clearance buy. It picks up the greens and golds in the room.

I also added a bar cart. You can read all about it's transformation from drab to fab by clicking HERE.

Right now I am working on the bar cart and what to put on it. Come back later this week to see how I finally styled it!

This is the view of the dining room from my kitchen...

I am slowly collecting white decorative soup tureen LIDS for a display on either side of the buffet. I have 3. If you know a resource for soup tureen lids PLEASE let me know! I would like at least 5 large lids on each side. Thanks!

I'm one of those people that love the serene look of the house after all the Christmas decorations are taken down.

It's like giving the house a chance to breathe until spring!

    1. Yes, this piece was a vintage one I found at a local shop and it was missing a handle. I've been looking everywhere for one that matches. I'm okay with it missing right now.

    1. Kay, the wall color is Benjamin Moore, Sonnet. It's a great creamy neutral. The trim is my favorite BM Atrium White. Hope this helps.

  30. I love rooms that glow in the morning sun. And I couldn't agree more about the calming, peaceful feel of a room after the Christmas decor is put away...allowing you to breathe describes it perfectly. That's what I'm doing right now..breathing.

  31. I never get tired of looking at that room! I have probably said it before but it is one of my absolute favorites! The colors are so peaceful and the room just has an overall glow. I also love the freshness of a room after the Christmas decor has been taken down. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I hope you are in that room sipping a cup of coffee or tea!

  36. Yvonne:

Here's a couple of suggestions. Go to e-Bay and type this in exactly as I show it in the shop by category box in the upper left hand corner: "soup tureen lid". Make sure you use the quotation marks. There is a neat duck tureen lid and Redcliff Ironstone lid on page 2 among others. You could also look at Replacements, Ltd. They are right down the road from where I Iive in the Chapel Hill, NC area. I have seen lids in the store and I am rather confident you can find them on line as well. Good luck. If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Take care.
