SPRING BRIDAL SHOWER, PART II... DESSERT BAR

What's a BRIDAL SHOWER without sweet treats? We celebrated Abigail and Christopher's upcoming nuptials with a spring luncheon.

A dessert bar was set up in the kitchen so our guests could help themselves...

The theme for Abby's bridal shower was FEATHER HER NEST.

It continued on to the dessert bar, but because it was stationed in the kitchen it took on a more relaxed look.

A pennant banner saying "yummy" greeted each guest.  The pennant was anchored in pots of yellow pansies.

Plates and napkins were stashed in a wire basket filled with fluff and a bird's nest.

A little whitewashed pot held extra forks and spoons.

Strawberry Shortcake was served with all kinds of yummy fixins' so each quest could make it their own way.

Click HERE for the Strawberry Shortcake recipe. It is really delicious and so easy to make!

Tiny nests held food labels.

Would you like a scoop?

THE DESSERT MENU

Strawberry Shortcake Bar:
Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberries
Milk
Chocolate Sauce
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Curls
White Chocolate Curls

Almond Horns (thanks Mikaela)
M&M's

The beverage station was set up in the foyer on the buffet I had recently painted.  The buffet top opens up to a great serving surface... perfect for serving beverages or hors d'oeuvres when entertaining.

The foyer and stair are a part of the renovation we are currently working on... but we have not even started there yet!

The old wallpaper is coming off this week to be repainted like the rest of the front of our home.

BEVERAGES
Pineapple Lemonade Punch
Water With Lemon
Prosecco

Nests were the decor of the day!

Some of the girls liked mixing the punch with the Prosecco ... fun!

Many people would think me a little crazy for hosting a bridal shower in the middle of a big renovation project. The living room and dining room floors were laid and everything was painted in those rooms, but I had no window treatments or much of the furniture we have ordered!!!

But I just ran with it and made the best of it!

Because most of my living room furniture is not coming in until the first week of April, it was the perfect place to set up tables for the luncheon!

I was even able to tuck one table in the foyer.

The centerpieces became each guests thank you gift!

I hope this shower was a special time for Abby. One that lets her know that she is so loved and cherished as the newest member of our family!!!

  7. One would never be able to tell that you're renovating. What a lovely celebration. Everything is so well thought out and organized. I love those bird nests and what a lovely gift you had for the guests. If your future dauther-in-love, as you call her, is ever in need of entertaining tips, she will certainly know who to turn to.

  15. Seems ot me not having all the furniture was ideal in this case. Made it possible for you to really spread things out.
You did a wonderful job Yvonne. Everything is so beautifully laid out. I am planning a new home/housewarming party for when my son and his lady close and move in their new home... I might be coming back to these posts for ideas!

  16. Beautiful job, but of course, it's you! I love how you kept the food simple and elegant. There is really no need to overdue, I am finally (thsnkfully) coming to that realization, took me a long time. I think the no furniture was a big help. Much more space to set up seating. xo

  32. You really out did yourself. Love the gifts for the guests, too sweet!

How did you attach the fluffy paper flowers/clouds to the ceiling? Did you make them yourself or purchase from a store? Thank you for your help.

  35. I think not having the new furnishings was a blessing in the disguise, it really created a lot more space for your guests. Everything looks so wonderfully warm and pretty and I love those tissue balls, they just scream out happiness. I bet you're having a great old time with all these pre-wedding celebrations, how fun!

  37. I Loved absolutely everything Really. But to my fault I like to be Honest the plastic cutlery ruined that photo for me. You can pick up extra sets if you don't want to use your personal silverware. Or buy at antique shops or rent That's what Martha and Barefoot Contessa does I Love her too. But Everything was Spectacular. I know people are going to complain I said that but the Truth is Always better.....Lisa
