ON THE MENU MONDAY~ WEEK OF AUG. 13, 2012

If you look at my menu this week, you will see what is producing in my garden right now. We are eating great summer tomatoes everyday!!! This is such a treat! Tomatoes are at their peak and bursting with flavor! I just can't get enough of them... and they are free for the picking... and canning... and freezing!

My onions and leeks and eggplants are all ready to be harvest this week too! So much yumminess.. . and no weeds. Thank you Bobby!

ON THE MENU MONDAY hit a milestone last week... 108 bloggers stopped by with their scrumptious recipes and menus to join in! We passed the 100 mark! Oh, this was so exciting and encouraging to me!

You don't know how many times I had ALMOST retired OTMM... it had languished along for quite awhile and I often questioned it's worth. It was all the faithful bloggers that supported it and showed up every week that has kept it going! Thank you so so much!

As we strive together for the next 100~ I am so thankful for so many scrumptious recipes, organized menus, the few added pounds it has put on me, and great friendships because of it!

My favorite part of ON THE MENU MONDAY is showing off some of the delicious recipes and menus from last week...

Look at all this summer color! We eat with our eyes first... and I have already devoured this dish... more than once! Chris from THE CAFE' SUCRE' brought this beautiful PENNE PASTA WITH FRESH MOZZARELLA AND HEIRLOOM TOMATOES to share at OTMM.

Marcie from I GOTTA TRY THAT shared some very COLORFUL CARROTS. They look like candy and not veggies! I bet even people who don't like carrots would eat these...or decorate with them!

These muffins were love at first sight! RASPBERRY LEMONADE MUFFINS pair two great flavors in one moist and delicious muffin! Thanks April... Visit Dimples and Delights for the recipe!

Crepes are a food that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert .. depending how you fill them. So when I saw THE EASIEST CREPES YOU'LL EVER MAKE from the Brady gals at COOKING UP GOOD TIMES I just had to check them out! This recipe is a keeper! You will see this ON MY MENU very soon!

If you have a crowd... or hungry family to feed Lori from A BIG STORY (kinda rhymes... cute) has the answer. Her SPASAGNA looks hearty and delicious and  makes 9 fabulous servings!

Look at these sweet treats! Cheesecake pair up with an American classic, Oreos to give us Mini Oreo Turtle Cheesecakes. Head on over to Steak And Potatos Kinda Gurl for this great recipe!

This week's featured Menu comes from DEE'S KITCHEN. Lots of fresh tastes going on over there! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Saturday's menu plan!!!

Please visit our featured blogs and try their great recipes! If you have been featured at OTMM  grab the "FEATURED' button on my sidebar!

  12. All those veggies! I would have starved to death if I were your kid. I was NOT a veggie loving kid. Carrots and Cucumbers were my veggies of choice. My veggie consumption has gotten better, but they still scare me.
Thanks for hosting. I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

  13. What a fabulous menu sweet Ivonne and your photography is outstanding, for a book worth and hey!...you should write a cooking book, you are one terrific chef!! I eat veggies all week long, as I'm one of those that watches her weight, lol.. I love your recipes for this great menu. I have a menu from my last Friday's dinner party, I didn't take good pics as I was in a hurry not to cold the food I was about to serve my guests in a sit down dinner party. Thank you darling for hosting, I'm so happy to be here!

  14. Hi Yvonne! It made me SMILE to see that you had stopped by this morning! It's been a while since I posted... Life just takes over sometimes, and the days get so filled up!
Chris and I had so much to do around the house once school let out...we cleaned out all our bedrooms and painted them.
I never thought we'd finish! There's just one more closet door to be replaced.
Our treat at the end of that long hot month was our trip to Texas. It was so wonderful to give Jason real hugs! Our daughter, Amanda, will be back east in a week. She was on the west coast for most of the summer. The two hour distance to her apartment doesn't seen so long compared to the distance to Jason's.
We are blessed to still have one of our children close by. We certainly treasure that!

I have really missed stopping by and visiting! Your tomato caprese tower looks AMAZING! We have a nice supply of garden tomatoes too and I will put this on my menu this week! I have to pick up some fresh mozzarella though. "Very good" olive oil and sweet basil will be easy... My basil plants are finally growing up now that we've had some rain.
I wish you a wonderful summer week ~ it's hard to believe that August is moving so quickly.
Savor all the moments ... We need these summer days to balance our northeast winters!
    Blessings to you, always,
    - Maria

  17. Congratulations on passing the 100 mark Yvonne. That's exciting! Most of all thank you for continuing OTMM. It's one of the highlights of the week. You and your menus and tutorials are an inspiration to us all and so is your energy and enthusiasm. I know OTMM involves a lot of your time each week, not even mentioning the deadlines involved and preparation. But you are truly appreciated.

I've linked a Green on green salad with charred corn for a pop of color and chicken for protein. It's dressed with homemade Green Goddess dressing, which is very low cal and super easy to make. Hope you have a wonderful week and thanks again for hosting.

  23. How awesome to reach a great milestone! I don't always gt to post on On the Menu Monday, but I love to find inspiration here. =) Your menu sounds so delicious! With hubby out of town this week and fall sports in full swing we are keeping it light as we run in and out the door which generally means sandwiches or my all-time favorite, breakfast for supper!
