Memorial Day 2011

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.    John McCrae

God bless our fallen patriots, those who have bravely served or are serving now, and their faithful families!

God Bless America

  1. Hi! I was just reading your blog in Google Reader. Just to let you know, the white text doesn't show up against the white background of Google Reader (or any other RRS feed reader). Please put the white text in a different colour. :-)

  2. Yvonne, this is the most perfect post anyone could make for Memorial Day. All of us owe such a deep depth of gratitude, respect, honor & love to our military and their families. God Bless the USA.

  9. This is incredible. I think I had to memorize that poem in school (back in the Dark Ages you know). It still brings me to tears.
