I received so many questions about the pink sugar that appeared in a recent post. Click HERE to see original post.
"Did you make it?" Yes, I did. It's a little touch that has a big WOW factor!
This could not be any easier to make! This sugar can be made to coordinate with the season, the theme and the color of a tablescape. Everyone loves this little fun touch. So sassy!
StoneGable Colored Sugar
white sugar
colored sanding sugar
multicolored large crystal sugar
Most specialty sugars are now carried by many grocers and kitchen stores.
All colored sugars were made with table sugar AND
shown above: top~ pinks sanding sugar + rainbow crystals; middle~ yellow cupcake sugar; bottom~ rainbow crystals
table sugar + soft green + rainbow crystals
Put white sugar in a small sealable baggie. Combine a little bit of colored sugar. You can always add more, but you cannot remove it. I think it looks best if the colored sugar is not overdone.
Seal the baggie and shake. Put colored sugar in sugar bowl and enjoy!
Even if you aren't having company soon, do it for the wee ones! Kids just LOVE this!

Thank you for this!

I was JUST thinking this morning that I needed to write you to ask how to make the pink sugar. I'm on the committee for a big tea party fundraiser and I thought this would be perfect for it. =) Thanks for this idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute unexpected touch to the table Yvonne. Thanks for the tutorial and your timing for me is impeccable. I'm on a cleaning and reorganizing kick right now and was just looking at my kitchen cabinet that holds all my food decorating supplies and wondering what I could do with all the bottles of sugars. I know how....Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I have never thought of coloring sugar. Carla
ReplyDeleteWe have enjoyed doing this for a long time. It is so very pretty in the bowl and on cereal too! Another thing we have done for awhile is to use royal icing and pipe a little flower on one side of a sugar cube. They, of course, harden and are so pretty in a sugar bowl.
ReplyDeleteYou do everything beautifully, Yvonne!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
Love,
Patti

Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteKids do LOVE this, we just had pink sugar yesterday at our tea party and they each added quite a bit to their "tea". I use teeny tiny spoons so they don't get too much, but they do love it.
Thanks for sharing and teaching.
Love it.
