Wedge salad is probably the All-American salad!
Iceburg lettuce, tomatoes, aged cheddar cheese, black olives, bacon, homemade bleu cheese dressing and crispy croutons. What could be better?
This salad delivers big, pleasing bites of flavor... and will not leave you hungry!
Perfect for a summer meal... especially on-the-go!
Wedge salad that was so popular 50 or 60 years ago is getting quite a fan following today! Back in the day, a thin wedge of iceburg lettuce was served on a small salad plate with a good dousing of bleu cheese dressing...and maybe a sprinkling of bacon and tomatoes and cheese.
So, it's time to give this American classic a facelift and make it portable too! I think putting really good food in a jar makes it taste great...
Let's build it from the bottom up...

ReplyDeleteHow much fun! I agree with Heather…..
ReplyDeleteWe're completely redoing our backyard this summer, so I'm looking for fun ways to enjoy our new space once it's finished. :)

I like the look of these salads in jars, but it boggles my mind as to HOW do you eat them?? Do you then eat the salad layer by layer?!?!? Whatever - pretty to look at.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to eat them if the mouth of the jar is wide enough. I dig down deep and pull out a few bites, then the rest can be mixed easily. Hope that helps. YUMMY!
DeleteYvonne to the rescue...doing this for my dinner party this weekend...was trying to think of a great and easy salad...you rock!!....Have great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYUM! Looks yummy, and perfect to take along for a lunch.. Love the idea!
ReplyDeleteMy son JUST walked in and asked, "What's for lunch, Mom?" and this looks perfect to me! (minus the olives...I am the only one in the house who likes them...such a shame!) Love it!
ReplyDeleteI just love this! It's both tasty, fun and making my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yvonne, for taking the time to comment on my blog and be an encourager! That's why I strive to be as well and you are a great role model in that area. Love 'ya!
