Let's talk turkey... okay, maybe not turkey... let's talk food! I am a real honest-to-goodness foodie. There is really no test to take that tells you are a foodie. Here's how I know I am...
I read cookbooks like romance novels, love to go to specialty food stores and try new things, my longest phone conversations are about recipes and food (except to my children and Donna), all the workers at Williams-Sonoma know me by name, many of my friends get pretty excited to come and have dinner at our house and I always feel like I am doing something so good for my family when I am cooking!
Do I love to cook everyday... heavens, no! Do I cook everyday... no, but most days I do.
Even if your passions don't find themselves satisfied in the kitchen, cooking can be enjoyable. Crank up the music you love best. Read the recipe at least once thoroughly, gather up all your ingredients and conjure up your inner Julia Child... or Martha Stewart... or Ina Garten!
NOW, HERE'S WHAT'S ON THE MENU...

This weeks features should come with a warning:
VIEW WITH CAUTION: MAY CAUSE EXTREME HUNGER!
We are pasta lovers, here at StoneGable. And we also love Vodka sauce.
Just look at this hearty and beautiful homemade VODKA SAUCE from SEE AIMEE COOK!
Okay, if you have been following me for any length of time you know my affinity for Mexican food! Ole'. When I saw TACO CHICKEN from QUEEN OF SAVINGS I was fixated, because Doritos are my very very very favorite. (No judging!) I cannot have them in my house or even get near them! How Kristen Bell feels about sloths is the same way I feel about Doritos! See the hysterical video by clicking HERE. I am saving this recipe for a special treat for me... it will probably make me cry, too!
ITALIAN SPINACH AND CREPE MANICOTTI just looks scrumptious. Italian food is another food I am weak kneed for!!! This wonderful, company worthy main dish comes form HALF BAKED HARVEST.
These are not your mothers deviled eggs. I am usually a deviled egg purist, but these CRAB AND CHIPOTLE AIOLI DEVILED EGGS from STEAKANDPOTATOESKINDAGRUL just might change my mind! These would be fabulous as an appetizer!
Sorry Girl Scouts, we know your secret... The secret to making those world famous THIN MINTS we all love and hoard in our freezers! And it's all thanks to April at DIMPLES AND DELIGHTS! Yea, for April!
I'm making BEEF AND BROCCOLI this week... next time I need to try this recipe from RITA'S RECIPES! Made in a slow cooker, this easy recipe looks delicious!!!!
DUCK BREAST WITH PORT WINE REDUCTION is on my must-try list! We have lots of duck lovers in my family. THE COOK'S SISTER 's recipe sounds very elegant and scrumptious!
LEMONADE BROWNIES from A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING really got my attention! They look moist and dense and even have a lemon glaze drizzled over the top! I bet they would freeze well too... to always have a sweet treat on hand!
This week's featured menu comes from... PREPARED TO EAT. Jamie is one very organized mom of four that know the importance of serving good and delicious food!!! Kudos to you, Jamie!

ReplyDeleteAlso did a spatchcock chicken. How wonderful. Reminds me of your perfect roast chicken. From now on I will always separate the skin and put something under it.
Have a great week!
Thank goodness I am not the only woman who adores reading cookbooks and shopping at the great kitchen stores. I live in the deep south so my menu is quite different than yours but oh how I love reading about what you are making. I love your blog and your beautiful home. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI'm a cookbook reader too! :)

ReplyDeleteI just had my breakfast, but these images made me so hungry. I wish I also could cook like this. Anyhow I’m not an excellent cook, but I really want to try at least one of these menus.
ReplyDeleteYvonne - count me as one who would be very excited to come to your house to eat! Your menus (and your blog) are always inspiring! xo
ReplyDeleteYvonne, thanks for hosting again. How honored I am to see my site featured here! :) I just love your blog, everything always looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne! I just wanted to stop by and link up even though I'm dreadfully late. Hope you are well and that your knee is all fixed up! I've been working hard on my Etsy shop and not been around Blogland much. I'm trying to catch up...I've missed so much. :o) Have a wonderful week...Ann
ReplyDeleteYour menu looks tasty! I LOVE Vodka Sauce. Unfortunately no one else does in my family so I rarely make it. I'd love for you to pop over and share your menu & recipes in my Weekly Menu Plan!! I will make sure to visit you each week now that I found yours.
ReplyDeleteHave a super week! SusieQTpies
I am so bookmarking that duck and beef with broccoli. Thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteCooking is love. End of story. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll come for dinner on Tuesday (healthy and yummy) or maybe Friday...not so healthy, but I can eat healthy at home. When do you eat the leftovers?? I am trying to eat healthier when I'm at home. I find that I gain weight these days when we travel (which is more than it used to be) because restaurant food is so salty and interesting (as you know, I'm a foodie too). So, it has been a month of baked chicken and lots of fruits and veggies around here. I miss cooking interesting things, but most of my best recipes have either butter, chocolate, sugar or cheese!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't cook large amounts. Or if it is something like soup, we eat it for lunches.
DeleteThank you Yvonne for visiting my blog because it got me to come over to yours and I LOVE FOOD BLOGS! I hate cooking the same thing week after week and I love playing with recipes. I don't own cookbooks since I found you use one or two recipes out of them and then you have all these books laying about, hate clutter so hate that, so now you know why I love food blogs. Love what yoou're planning for this week and I'm excited about browsing your recipes.
ReplyDeleteHappy cooking!
Debra
