I want my front door to say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" before I do!
This year, like most others, I made my door wreath from lots of greens, and bright Christmasy accents!
StoneGable sits off of a country road a bit so my wreath must be BIG and bright for all to see!
This wreath is very ... and I mean VERY easy to make.

This year I used frazer fur, white pine, regular cedar, incense cedar and boxwood to fill this wreath.
Bright red ice crusted berries and red and white Christmas balls were added as accents.
This year I am using lots and lots of black and white check and plaid ribbon to decorate!
I used them on the front door too, with the addition of a fire engine red ribbon to make a big, bright bow!
A scrolly monogram fills the center of the wreath. I am a northern girl... but I have a southern girl's heart! I love anything monogrammed!!!
I ordered the letters from SOUTHERN PROPER MONOGRAMS and then painted them white. They did a wonderful job! This company is worth visiting!!!
I have another project for these letters when they come off the front door wreath!

It is beautiful, and will be anxious to see the tutorial. I have never made a fresh wreath, I now don't have access to frsh cut greens, but I could buy some from a nursery or tree lot. BTW, if it freezes, those berries might "po" if they are a styrofoam base. Hoe that doesn't happen for you, they are so pretty. XOXO

ReplyDeletefortunately for me the lady that owns Southern Proper Monograms lives here in my town (Montgomery) and I ordered one for my DIL for Christmas....I got an e-mail from Shannon (owner of SPM) this morning saying my monogram is almost ready...I'm attaching it to a wreath she can use pretty much year round on her front door. I ordered one for myself earlier this year and just love it!

ReplyDeleteYour wreath is gorgeous and so big and full. Much nicer than a hand made purchased one up here. I didn't buy a real one this year so used my faux one and for the garage door I made a swag of real greens from our own trees with red ribbon hanging. We get a lot of wind and snow (eventually) that whip things around pretty good here. The front door wreath is protected by the screen door. Loving real greenery inside and out!

ReplyDeleteI love the black checked ribbon that you used with the red ribbon. Very fresh for Christmas. And the monogram is the crown jewel. Now I have a question. When ordering a 3 letter monogram which initials are used? Something I have never known.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, The lettering in a monogram depends on which type of monogram you want. If it is for one person the left letter is the first name, the middle letter is the last name and the right letter is the middle name. If it is a husband and wife the left letter is the wife's first name, the middle letter is the last name they share, and the right letter is the first name of the husband. Hope this helps!

I just found your website/blog! Wow I love your ideas - especially the christmas wreath from last year ('12). What size monogram initials did you use and with what size of wreath? I'm afraid if I order the 12" or 14" monogram, I would have to get very large wreaths in order to hang properly in center. Can you give me some tips?

ReplyDeleteLizl my wreath is pretty big. By making my own wreaths it just grows as I make it. As you can see, it almost covers my door! The monogram is 10 inches. Hope this helps!
