THANKSGIVING PIES

I was a busy girl yesterday... baking pies for Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin and Pecan...

Here's a peek and some recipes...and some helpful tips...

The pie dough I use comes from Martha Stewart. Her Pate' Brisee is one I have used for years... and it is the best, really! So easy, flaky and it hold up well!

Let's get started making delicious pies...

Click HERE for a very informative video on making pretty and easy pie edges.

The pumpkin pie recipe comes from the back of the Libby can. I just add a tad more cinnamon and cloves. You can find the recipe HERE.

The pecan pie recipe also comes from Martha and you can get the recipe HERE. I tweaked it a little by adding 1 1/2 cups rough chopped pecans to the pie mixture and then decorated the top with 1 1/2 cups of pecan halves.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  1. Honestly, Way to pretty to eat! But I'm sure they will be enjoyed by all. My sister cooks for Thanksgiving, I'll do all the cooking for Christmas. My pies never look like this!

  11. What beautiful pies you have made for Thanksgiving.

I get mine from the store because I have pie making
    phobia.

Hubby even hired a pie expert to come to my kitchen and show
me and my niece how to make pies.
It was so hot in the kitchen that day in late October that her
pies were hard to roll out.

Maybe someday I will just get up the courage to try and make a
pie crust and keep at it until I get one pie made.

  13. Why do you freeze the pie crust before using it???

    1. So that the butter will create steam, making it flaky. AND so the crust won't slump or shrink.
      Happy Thanksgiving!

  23. Your pies look beautiful.
Hope you had a grand day.
I wasn't on pie detail this year. I did individual lack forest cakelets and pumpkin trifle. Too many desserts, as usual! Today I wish I had some of the left overs! :)
