ON THE MENU MONDAY~ WEEK OF OCTOBER 29, 2012

Hi Everyone! Our family has had a busy busy weekend laying hardwood floors. The dining room was finished last night and the living room was finished minutes ago!

Now we are wildly busy, bringing everything in from the front porch, filling bathtubs and pots and utility tubs with water. We are scheduled to get a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy!!! It's so hard for us to believe. Right now it is rainy and windy... but by this time tomorrow we should be in the thick of the hurricane.

We are well stocked and safe. It is most likely that we will loose electricity so I'll post when I can!

Please pray for all who are affected by the weather...

Because of all the extra work I have not had time to chose features this week.... so sorry! I'll have two weeks worth of features next week!

Now, here's what's ON THE MENU...

  2. Yvonne: Another great week of menus. We have leftover beef and barley soup (your recipe) that I made last week in the freezer.
We are on Long Island so I know how you feel. We don't have to worry about water but we do have to worry about loosing power. We were without power during Hurricane Irene for three days.

Good luck, stay safe and stay dry. Prayers for all in harms way.

  8. We are ready here in NJ for Sandy. The real problem for us aside from high winds is the swelling all the creeks and rivers. Everything is cancelled for tomorrow...schools, church activities...even my hubby's office which is the corporate office for UPS is closed.
Stay safe Yvonne, hopefully we will both weather the storm successfully! God bless.

  9. We are preparing for Sandy too. The winds are picking up here on Long Island but so far no rain. It is on its way though.
    Stay safe.

  14. Hi Yvonne! I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. I am hoping the Sandy turns out to be as sweet to you all as her name implies. One of my oldest and dearest friends has homes in Scarsdale and Montauk. If it gets ugly, why don't you all come stay with me in Idaho. Thanks for the party and I will be looking forward to that short rib crock pot recipe whenever you can post. Thanks Yvonne.

    Big, big hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  16. I see your menu is a lot more optimistic than mine Yvonne... I have bread, peanut butter, apples and a manual can opener! Hope the storm amounts to nothing more than a lot of wind and some rain. Glad to hear your flooring project is coming along nicely:@)

  17. Hello Yvonne,

My prayers are with you, we are in the think if it as I type this and it is scary! The wind and the rain are unbelievable! Although I think that every time we are in a hurricane. It never gets any less scary.

High tide is coming and this is the worst and most scary for a lot of people.

    Be safe!

Looking forward to your beautiful makeover.

  24. We will be praying for all of those in the path of the storm. Living on the MS Gulf Coast, I have experienced that uncertainty that occurs prior to the arrival of a storm. Take this opportunity (negative as it is) to spend time with your family, pray together, play games together, and eat yummy food. There is a saying on the Gulf Coast that calories do not count during a hurricane! Blessings from Still Woods Farmhouse

  36. Stay safe, Yvonne! I hope you don't lose power. I know last years storm knocked out power for quite some time for people {my sister for one}. My son is stuck here in Ohio with us for an extra day at least. He came to surprise me for my birthday and they canceled his flight back to NY for this morning, yesterday about noon.
