As I am writing this I hear POUND-POUND-POUND-BANG. My husband is removing the carpet tacks from the sub flooring in the living room. We removed the living room carpet earlier today. And there is a SCRATCH-DIGGGGGG- SCRATCH under my feet as our little dog Scamp tries to dig a hole in my oriental carpet in the study trying to get away from the noise!
We ( I use "we" to mean Bobby) are ripping up the carpet in the front of StoneGable ... getting it ready for "hardwood floor laying weekend"! For some reason, my husband loves to lay hardwood floors. He is not quite gleeful... but he is very happy about this!
Early this coming week I am packing away the dishes that live in my buffet and hutch and taking down the pictures in the dinning room... Wednesday is dinning room carpet removal day. More BANGING AND SCRATCHING! Scamp and I may just go visit my MOM!
Look for pictures of the process on Facebook!
Oh, boy!!!! More POUND-POUND-BANG-BANG... THUD! I better go find out what that THUD was all about...

Beautiful beautiful beautiful, Yvonne.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to offer is our Sunday morning breakfast and Miss G's witchy hats.:-)
Thanks so much for hosting!
I love wood floors, they're so warm and inviting! Now the banging, not so much :). I just sent your crock pot tips to my son and his girlfriend, they're the new owners of a crock pot. Thanks for hosting each week.
ReplyDeleteSurely you're not going to cook through all this! Your menu sounds perfect, and I have had that Vertical Pear Salad for so long, maybe this week! Jenna
ReplyDeleteCooking will be fine! The really big work is this weekend... and is contained to the front of the house.
DeleteMmm, your features look so yummy and homey!! Good luck through your renovations, thanks as always for hosting!!
ReplyDeleteI'll come over and help with the floors if I can eat at your house for the week!
ReplyDeleteI love that ~ Crocktober! I've expanded my horizons with my crockpot, Yvonne. I made chicken soup a week ago {first time} and the other night I made a Hungarian Goulash. I should have taken pictures and shared them on my blog. Non-crockpot related, I also did a Coconut Cream Pie with gluten free graham cracker crust. Delicious! It was so good it's being added to the list of desserts for Thanksgiving. It's amazing how much more cooking and risks with recipes I've been taking this past year. I think it's been easier to try since I'm not working full-time now. Not to mention the crockpot makes meal planning so much easier!
ReplyDeleteWood floors are the best. I can not wait to see how it all looks!!! You aren't going to know what to do once you are all done with your projects!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe stayed at the most.lovely bed and breakfast in new jersey called the rosemary inn...I thought of YOU!!! :)
Thank you so much for hosting, great features...yum!
ReplyDeleteAw, poor Scamp! No doubt the new hardwood floors will be beautiful! Sounds like a tasty week at SG and all I can say about football today is... the Eagles didn't lose:@) Have a great week Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteYvonne: Looks like another week of great recipes.
ReplyDeleteMaking your beef and more beef and barley soup this week,'if I can find barley. Tried two
stores this morning with no luck. Need to get to a big market tomorrow.
That roasted tomato sauce dish sounds intriguing.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure the POUND-POUND-POUND-BANG will be worth it Yvonne! Thanks for hosting...I'm off to see what Crocktober is all about!

Hello Yvonne: Your posts are always so visually gorgeous, and this one is no exception--I love the shot of the pears at the top, and your beautiful food photography throughout! The features are lovely this week--so many good recipes to try out in the coming days. Thank you for hosting the party for us today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant surprise to see my pumpkin black bean soup on your menu. I'm so glad that you like it and thank you.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you possibly manage to cook with all that is going on in your house. I wish I was your neighbor. I would bring you and Bobby dinner one night. Thanks for hosting and I hope all goes well with the floors.
Sam
Morning..
ReplyDeletedoing the same thing here.. removing the carpet and laying down hardwood flooring in ALL bedrooms and the stairs! So far the stairs took 2 days with so many blasted nails and staples and the smallest room took 3 hours (hubby said I forgot to remove the boxes from the closet floor which really count here, so today that's my chore indeed.) But we did make head wave in autumn yard work.
Thanks for sharing sites and recipes and I do so adore Patricia's site too.
warm hugs,
Cotton Peony
I love hardwood floors, I'm sure it will be beautiful once your done and all the noise will be worth it. Thanks for hosting and have a great week. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful treat to have hardwood floors installed! :) We love our hardwoods...so easy to keep clean!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a tasty week at your place, Yvonne! :)
Wonderful features Yvonne! Thank you so much once again for hosting and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteNew wood floors, how very, very exciting!! It's amazing how they were so out of fashion at one time, and now we are ripping our houses up to get them back! I love wood floors and I am sure yours will be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour menu is so tempting, and I am so interested in several items, but the crockpot chai sounds the most delicious to me.
Thanks again, Mrs. Southern Living (which is how I describe your blog to my friends.)
One of these days I am going to follow your good example and plan meals ahead so I don't have to go to the grocery quite so often.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I bet you can't wait until the project is done and poor Scamp.
ReplyDeleteAs always your recipes and presentation is lovely. Time to get out my crock pot.
thanks for hosting. have a great week
ReplyDeleteI just found your On The Menu party and linked up. Also your newest follower! I can't wait to dig in and see what you have on your yummy blog! Please stop by Still Woods Farmhouse for a visit!
ReplyDeleteWhew....! little late linking up this time but I made it Yvonne. Thank you for hosting another week. How exciting all the new improvements to your lovely home, can't wait for you to share them.
ReplyDeleteYou will love your new hardwood floors, Yvonne. I've always loved mine and when I went house hunting in Colorado that was one of the first things I looked for. There are so many tempting links in your post and blog party contributors!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw the naked floor on FB ! I know you are excited. It will be lovely. And so nice your hubby--is it? Or your son? loves to install them. He's probably focused on the beautiful results!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your always-inspiring blog!
Yvonne, I love your blog. It would be so helpful for those of us using an IPad if you could add a "pinit" button to your site. Thanks! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I usually add it, but not for ON THE MENU MONDAY. I'll do that from now on. Thanks for the suggestion!
