FALL ON THE FRONT PORCH

Decorating my front porch for fall is like a musical crescendo.  Fall decor starts quietly on the front door and over a month builds and builds....

Next, urns of fall flowers are filled... then pumpkins are added to the door transom...

And finally the full symphony of fall finery appears...

This year I decided to decorate just around my front door.

I exchanged the sunflower in my arrangement for a couple pumpkins and a gourd.

Early fall....

Now...

The urns I planted a month ago have really filled in.  I also added a couple of pumpkins here and there.

You can learn about what I planted in my urns by clicking HERE.

Early fall...

Now...

The left side of the front door...

The chair on the porch belonged to my great grandmother and I painted it black years ago. I took it from my kid's bathroom and stacked pumpkins on it!

On the right side of the porch I added a bushel basket filled with grasses, sage, Black Eyed Susan's, thyme and other fillers.

The lanterns have battery operated candles on timers. They throw off a soft glow at night.

My front door welcomes fall... and YOU!

Next week look for my fall decorated potting bench on the back porch!

  14. Lovely! I have a couple of hanging grapevine baskets that I started working on with some fall decor but haven't finished them yet. And I have two mums in my yard...that I planted several years ago...and they are in full bloom and huge! They must be between 3 to 4 feet across. Fall is my absolutely most favorite time of the year with all of God's glorious beauty in full bloom. Too bad it lasts only a short time ;/

  22. That simply looks great. Nice attention to detail I thought. It’s these little touches that give the whole look warmth and personality. It looks so very autumn, just a little flower with the mums as you call them, but featuring not too much bloom and the autumn effect of the branches added for height are great.

I love the ornamental peppers and what clever touches you have used including the use of the cabbage too. Even a nettle which everyone else murders on sight but here you are letting it contribute a little of its glory to the display. It really is a neat mix, it looks great really.

The old chair and lantern gives it extra personality, I bet you had a great time putting all this together. I think it would have been nice to of had a photograph of how it looks at night with the candles aglow. I reckon it would be quite eye catching.

I’m sure you will come up with something special for Christmas; I will look forward to that post. All in all the pots, the pumpkins really look amazing and I imagine it would take me a long time to walk past your house as it would catch anyone’s eye.
