ON THE MENU MONDAY~ WEEK OF JULY 16, 2012

This week I am going to the spa! Not the place I get a pedicure... but a big time, fluffy robe and slippers luxury spa! I have never been to a spa... and I have mixed emotions.

I can't wait for a couple hours of decedent pampering and being fussed over. BUT there is something in the back of my mind that makes me want to giggle! A very sophomoric giggle that breaks out into a fall-on-the-floor-gasp-for-breath belly laugh!

A Spa would be great settings for sitcom! I can  picture Lucille Ball doing a hilarious segment with she and Ethel wrapped in seaweed, eating their eye cucumbers and slinging Dead Sea mud at each other.  My husband says I have the Lucille Ball "factor"! Oh, dear!

I know that spa-ing is therapeutic but I think it is just a wee bit silly and pretentious (oh, boy... I bet I get so many spa lovers e-mailing me). I am sure once I get there I will change my mind... but if they play white noise music and burn patchouli...

This week the grill is staying on the back porch ready to use. The weather is going to get sizzling hot again! But even in this steamy weather I can't resist Thursday's slow cooker soup...

Here's what's ON THE MENU...

  1. Have fun at the spa! It sounds like it would be fun to go, but knowing me, I'd get the giggles or fall asleep once they started touching me. Sounds like you'll have a great time though....I'm sure they have seen and heard it all anyway, so whatever you do probably won't surprise them. Enjoy your "Time off".

  7. If you turn out to be like most women you will love a couple hours of spa-indulgent treatments. I'm a huge fan of facials, oxygen facials especially, they actually do plump up the facial skin. I do not like massages at all, too personal for me. But I also love the hydra-therapy treatments...the waters are beautiful and it's so relaxing. Don't be afraid to undress, everyone does, and the spa attendants and technicians have seen it all. Relax.....listen to the beautiful music, drink the infused waters...let it all go....

  20. Yvonne-
I was in a deep funk this morning, as I'm soooo missing my grandsons who were visiting from Ohio. That's 750 miles away!!!! They left yesterday and I was so low that I cleaned the garage in 90 plus degree heat. That's wallowing for you! BUT....fast forward to this morning and I see my Shrimp Shooters featured on StoneGable. Instant uplifter for SURE. Thank you so much for this honor. I almost didn't even post this because I didn't think the photos were very good. But the shrimp is!!!
