Outdoor Fall Decor

Transforming my porch from Summer to Fall is quite an undertaking... and a workout! Lifting all those heavy pumpkins and pulling out the fading summer flowers from the urns was nature's strength training.

This year, because I am late getting everything out... or in, I decided not to go with the hay bales and corn stocks I usually use in fall outdoor decorating. A little cleaner, more streamlined suites me just fine.

A new wreath  full of Autumnal elements graces the front door.  Jack-Be-Little pumpkins from my garden sit on the transom ledge above.

Bright yellow mums fill the urns that flank the front door. Pumpkin, gourds and leaves fill in around the mums.

Oil bronzed lanterns give a rustic touch to the porch. Not to mention a beautiful glow from the LED candles at sundown. (I just got new taller candles today)

Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere! I went to the pumpkin wagon and got all of these orange beauties for 50 cents and $1.00! I'm a girl who LOVES a bargain!

Ever since my first visit to Savannah (my destination crush!!!!) I have been captivated with little "somethings" they arrange on each of the step of their staircase ascending to their front doors. I saw this in Southern Paradise and have been using variations of this idea ever since.

At the other end of of the porch is a big pot of mum and ... MORE pumpkins!

Next week we will carve a couple of big pumpkins and add them to the porch!

  6. Looks beautiful! Love the little pumpkins on the transom window sill. I've used little LED candles at Christmas time on my transom but have never thought about pumpkins. So cute! You know I'm a huge Savannah fan as a former resident. Nothing like the southern style/hospitality of those porches.

  12. Just gorgeous and very inviting, Yvonne! I have even skipped the mums this year as I feel it is so late already that I won't get much out of them at my house. Oh well, I must remember to get a move on next year! I love the color of your door, too. Looks like it might be referred to as a "pumpkin color" if it was being described in a magazine. Which is where your porch looks like it belongs! : )

  20. Thanks for visiting my blog today! I love what you did with your front porch for fall -- so opposite from mine but a look I have always loved! I will probably be adding some "little somethings" on my porch stairs in the coming weeks -- one small pumpkin for each of my four boys. That will be a family decorating project for sure!

Have you considered doing a book about decor for the seasons ! with recipes,etc.. thrown in ? From the table to the door decor and more !

Love your autumn display on the porch !

Isn't Savannah a grand and beautiful city ! I swear I saw Rhett and Scarlett walking in one of the parks under a huge old oak tree with the spanish moss draped down above their heads ! :o)

  49. Your front looks FANTASTIC! I'll have you know, I had to get up & go outside to look at the top of my door. The arched window has 6 perfectly divided panes reaching down to the door that would make the ideal spot for some tiny pumpkins. I never would have thought about it if I hadn't seen yours!!!

You brighten my world so much with your ideas, Woman! Thank you!!
