Daisy Chain

Daisy Chain Tablescape

Daisies... sweet... innocent...fresh. They are an all girl flower! And the inspiration for this table set near my perenial border.

I am dedicating this table to all the mothers and daughters who would love to sit and have time together at this girly table! And that means you, Mom and Jacqueline!

The table belonged to my grandmother. She used it on the back porch as a utility table. Now it belongs to me and is used occasionally for an intimate al fresco dinner. Worn by age, the original paint is quite chippy exposing the raw wood underneath. A small drawer with it's original glass pull hides extra napkins, utensils and a cork screw.

Dasies are such simple, delightful flowers, so I tried to keep my table uncomplicated and simple too.

The table is set with yellow and white.  By keeping the color scheme very simple, details become more important! Things like texture, edges, shaddows and height differences get noticed.

Each place is set with a stack of white plates.  A sunny yellow and white daisy plate and matching bowl are perched on top. Interesting edges and textures are more facinating and and festive.

Yellow and white polka dot placemats are embellished with ric rac for a sweet look. Little embroidered daisies are glued around the edges of each placemat. Look for a tutorial next week on making homemade placemats. Very easy and next to nothing to make!

Matching napkins are also given a ric rac edge. Little daisies are afixed in one corner of the napkin.

These darling polka dot napkins napkins are paired with a white damask napkin. I love the idea of having a napkin for the lap and one for the hands. It also makes a beautiful presentation.

These little bird napkin rings are a recent and fun find from Lucketts. The birds are painted metal and sit on a flower base. I think they are so precious!

Dessert bowls are waiting for ice cream and homemade toppings (an upcoming summer post).

Citron green bubble glasses add a little sass without looking out of place!

At first I was going to put a simple vase of daisies in the middle of the table, until I saw this wire tiered gardiner in the clearance isle at Marshall's.

Wide mouth jelly jars hold lemon verbena, shasta daisies and yellow flowers (I just can't remember what they are).

The summery look is completed with a yellow and green plaid bow!

The Menu:
Chilled Cucumber Soup
Arugula Salad with Pine Nuts, Shaved Parmesan in a Lemon Vinaigrette
Grilled Planked Salmon
Grilled Zucchini and Onions
Ice Cream with Homemade Caramel or Rich Chocolate Sauce
StoneGable Ice Tea

Now go call an important woman in your life and tell them, "I LOVE YOU!"

A big thanks to Susan at Between Naps On The Porch for hosting the 98th Tablescape Thursday. Please stop by and visit all the creative people and their tablescapes!

  46. Love, love, love this tablescape. Daisies are so fresh and remind me of my childhood when they grew wild and we would pick them. I never had too much success growing them as an adult, so I also admire your perennial bed.

I was pondering earlier this week that your blog is like having a special, well-loved book that I can pour over time and time again. Your "pages" are just beautiful and inspiring. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  53. Oh Yvonne,
This is just the sweetest! I just love these precious and innocent daisies. They so remind me of summer in my youth, remember when the days blended together and you didn't really know or care what day it was other than another day to see the sun shine and have fun. It's kind of like looking at daisies, sunshine, innocence and fun!
Actually, just like all of your posts!! You always have a way of making anything look appealing and amazing and every time I come here I am always in awe of your china collection. That closet for all of it keeps getting bigger and bigger in my mind with each post you do!!
    Have a sunshine filled day.

  72. I'm running out of adjectives to describe your tablescapes. Each is a unique and stunning beauty. This one is no exception. Love it all. I've a garden of daisies, but would never have thought to use it as a theme. Very creative. You should author a coffee table book of tablescapes. It would be a hit for sure. BTW, have you ever done a post on where and how you store your beauties?

  73. Yvonne! this tablescape really speaks to me. It takes me back to 1970 and my wedding. We had little white daisies sewn around the dotted swiss bridesmaids dresses. Such a simplier time that was! I love the little placemats and napkins and how you thought to put the daisy by the napkin ring. I love everything you show us, you talented lady you!

  79. Yvonne,
This is so perfect. Daisies were my mother's favorite and I think of her every time I see them....such a simple little flower. Had to "make" time to look at tablescapes.....grandkids visiting....scurrying around this AM wanting Papa to take them to our neighborhood pool....getting everything. I literally had to scroll through this 4 times with all the distractions!! I have fallen in love with the yellow dishes. Funny that yellow was always my favorite color until someone told me in my early 20's that yellow reflected a "nervous" personallity....and I believe them! It may be exciting and stimulating but not "nervous"!!! Thanks for this wonderful table.
    Regards,
    Gwen
