StoneGable's First Giveaway

Pink Lemonade
As the summer heat and hummidity begin to set in I wanted to make a great drink that would quench a thirst that would go along with the soaring temperatures.

Pink lemonade is a pretty, lucious and refreshing summertime favorite!

Once you have tried homemade lemonade you just might be done with the powder mix! It is soooooo much better. Puckery tart and sugary sweet- a fabulous ZING!

The challenge for me was to make a great tasting lemonade and not have it high in calories and sugar. After playing around with ratios and methods, I think I hit upon a great compromise! I use splenda and just a little sugar. You really can't fake the great taste of real sugar, so using just a little gives it that unmistakable sugar taste- heavenly!

What makes pink lemonade pink? Grenadine. That is the pink ingredient in the classic recipe. Grenadine won't interfere with the true lemmony taste.

So... work hard. play harder and when you take a break grab a big glass of freshly squeezed pink lemonade!

StoneGable Pink Lemonade:
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 5-7 lemons)
2/3 cup water
2/3 cup Granulated Splenda
2 TBS sugar
3 1/2 cups cold water
2 TBS grenadine syrup
crushed ice
garnish

Squeeze 1 cup lemon juice. Put in pitcher.
In a microwave safe bowl, combine 2/3 cup water, splenda and sugar. Microwave for 2 minutes on high to make a simple syrup. Carefully remove from microwave- make sure it does not flare up. Stir until sugars are dissolved.
Add to pitcher. Add  3 1/2 cups cold water, grenadine and about 1 cup crushed ice and stir until well mixed.
Serve over ice and garnish with a lemon slice and some fresh mint.

Options:
*Adding fruit to fresh homemade lemonade is a delicious treat. Crush or process in the food processor 1 cup of strawberries, or raspberries and add to the lemonade for a bright pink surprise!
*Red juices such as pomegranate or cranberry juice can also be added for a mixed fruit lemonade.
* A fabulous adult drink called the "Blushing Bride" is made by using 1 shot strawberry vodka, 1 shot cranberry juice and the rest pink lemonade. Serve in a wide mouth glass with the rim dipped in pink sugar- This is a yummy summer cocktail!

  4. Yum that looks so good and refreshing! One of my favorite drinks during the summer is Homemade Ginger Soda. It takes some time to make it as it has to "brew" but oh so good!

Hum I might just have to do a post on that!

  6. HPS! I love your pink lemonade! Have you ever used frozen blueberries? It makes the most wonderful lemonade - I throw about 1/4 of a cup into a pitcher of lemonade - smoosh them a little as you mix with a spoon. Great color and flavor!!

    Have a great weekend!

  21. How pretty!! I ♥ how you captured the condensation on the sides of the glasses. GREAT photos!

We use a lot of artificial sweeteners at our house since DH is diabetic. I've found that a single slice of some citrus fruit takes away the bite at the back of your throat that some leave. I look forward to trying this recipe very soon.
    Thank you!
