Neutrals and Natural

 and White Table:

I love the look of neutral colors accented by dark wood! The ballance of light and dark, soft and hard, bright and shaddow brings interest and eye appeal. Dark pieces mixed among neutral or whites brings depth and weight. This is my very favorite way to display white.

This table was posted last year, but I thougt I would bring it out again, revamp it and repost it.

The table is simply set. There are so many beautiful elements that can stand alone that wanted them all to shine.

An ivory cotton lace tablecloth was bought years ago at a large outdoor antique market. This beauty was spread over the bare mahogany table. It was love at first sight. So beautiful and delicate. I like that there are many intricate pattens that blend together- a work of art.

Each place was set with a combination of white and brown dishes. I got a little carried away with the layering, but it was so fun! A white tulip greets each guest and mirrors the arrangement.

Brown ribbed glasses continue the natural theme. I used a stem glass, because I have no place mat or table pads to protect the wood.

Crisp napkins with thick cotton lace edges are folded next to the plate. Brown pearl handled flatware flatters the brown transferware plates. (HomeGoods)

The white footed ironstone bowl has a pretty fluted edge. Filled with potted tulips and willow twigs this bowl is transformed into a centerpiece. White moss covers the soil and a little stick bird's nest brings a natural  brown element to the centerpiece.

Tall glass and tortoise shell inspired candlesticks topped with a creamy white candle give added height to the table... And a little drama too!

Another recent purchase was this pretty white pitcher.  I love it's graceful and curvy lines. It reminds me of something a poem would be written about.

The salt and pepper shaker are Mikasa Italian Countryside and match the dinner plates and the sugar bowl and creamer.

It was a wonderful evening with people we love.

I am participating in Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch.

  22. Oh my goodness, what can I say..PERFECT! That is my absolute favorite color combo. In fact 15 years ago when I planned my wedding those were my colors. Back then everyone was doing lavendar & peach. They thought I was nuts, BROWN? I had to have the bridesmaid dresses made, they just didn't have them in the stores. Blah, blah blah. did't mean to get so carried away, but your post just got me excited. Those chargers are from Home Goods? They are wonderful, I must go hunting. And the footed bowl with the tulips, devine. You are a talented girl, you could serve frozen pizza on that table & would taste like Prime Rib! Lisa

  49. Yvonne,
I have to say, I have come to "study" your tablescapes! As usual this tablescape is a true tutorial as to pulling it all together perfectly...geometric shapes repeated in linens, ribbing in glassware repeated in the cups, flatware caps, a bit of lazy daisy embroidery in tablecloth flows with the leaves on the dishes, unlined tablecloth shows the woodtones of the table shared by the brown glass....a true lesson in how to tie it all together beautifully! This is one to file away for future reference. Thanks for sharing your talents!

  62. Hello Yvonne~ ~~
We were truly blessed this week with only a few inches of snow. Your white table reminds me of this icy lovely winter we are having. So pretty. Is there a Home Goods in Lancaster? I haven't found one locally yet and with all I have heard I'm anxious to shop one. Your plates are lovely.

  63. Oh Yvonne, tired of your berry and leaf white plates? Nonsense. I loved them so much that when I saw them at my HomeGoods, I had to buy them too - but they only had the dinner size. I've yet to use them, but I know they'll have endless possiblities!
