This houndstooth print is adorable; however, I believe a slightly smaller print would go better in your room. Since these are your current two choices, I agree with other comments that the tan houndstooth is softer and believe it goes easier in the room although the idea that you could see the black and white from other rooms is appealing as well. If you are keeping the blue accents in the room, a solid soft deep blue throw would tone down the bold black and white contrast. I love your sense of style and ability to incorporate patterns and colors that I have a hard time meshing in my own home. You give me inspiration and I am gradually expanding my own decorating thanks to your talent. I hope you are feeling better and that whichever pattern you choose will complete the look you are hoping to achieve. I would have to go with a stripe instead. BTW, I have one of those Lazy-Boy small recliners very similar. We purchased it fourteen years ago and it is still in great shape. The fabric I chose is a floral on tan by Thomas Kinkade and has nail heads around it. Our sofa is dark green. We haven't tired of the floral yet. Good luck with your choice. The fact that you said you could use this in any room is an excellent plus. You cant go wrong there. The fact that you said it was a safe choice is also a "PRO" in my opinon. I'm thinking you were attracted to the hounds tooth design perhaps for the same reason you were to your sofa fabric and IF you elect to go with either hounds tooth fabric you will regret it later. I adore your window treatments, but personally I would not like the hounds tooth so close to your curtains. Now I realize you are going for some jazz in this cozy room and were attracted to the boldness of the hounds tooth. I can see that you are striving to have your style evolve into something more than your past predictable efforts, but what was wrong with that? I know you will ponder all these responses. Then you will evaluate what you hope to achieve in this room. The room is lovely and cozy looking. It will still be cozy with the hardwood floors but once the floor is down the chosen print in either color would dominate the room. In my opinion the chair would upset the balance. You have time and if you haven't already started a collection of pictures showing chairs of colors and fabrics you see as possibilities I think this is a great time to do that. In the end it will all work out because you will know in your heart what is right for the room and yourself.
