Granola:
We are having a house full of family for the long weekend. Nothing thrills me more! I often say our home is more like a hotel!
So I made granola to have for my snackers. It also makes a great breakfast when we need to eat something quick. Sweet and crunchy, this granola is a real energy booster!
StoneGable Granola:
6 cups of oatmeal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 1/2 cups slivered almonds
2 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup coconut (flaked)
1/2 dark brown sugar ( I use a little more)
1/2 cup non flavored vegetable oil
1 tsp cinnamon
2 TBS vanilla
1-2 cups assorted dried fruit (I use dried cherries)
1-2 cups of add-in (mini chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, cereals)
Preheat oven to 225 degrees.
Mix all ingredients except dried fruit and add-ins in a large bowl. Mix well to coat evenly. I omit the coconut, not all of us are fans. Distribute on 2 large rimmed baking sheets.
Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Turn every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool completely.
Stir in dried fruit and add-ins. I put dried fruit and add ins in individual bowls and let everyone make their own customized blends if we have it for breakfast.
Store in air tight container.
Enjoy!
I am joiniing Chari at Happy To Design for Sunday Favorites!

Everything you do is so lovely. I just started blogging and my sister Joni at Red Courch Recipes turned me on to your sight. I was inspired by your daisy cupcakes and went out and found the Wilton Fondant cut outs. I am going to feature them on a post. Thanks for making life more beautiful and inspiring!

I used to make a homemade granola, which I loved to eat just as a dry snack.
ReplyDeleteMy recipe came out of a "make a mix" cookbook. Yours looks just like mine, wonder if it is the same.
I am heading out to the store today and will get the things I need to make this. I'll bet it smells delicious while baking.
ReplyDeleteI have used this same template on my second, genealogy blog. I love it.
LOVE granola for breakfast, with thick Greek yogurt, and fresh berries; right now, Jersey blueberries fit the bill just perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWonderful recipe. I've never had the courage to make my own granola, but maybe I should give it a try.

I love this recipe! The dried cherries sound great and a cereal mix in would be the finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteI found you via the 3 pixies blog (Christy) but I think I was already following you... so I'm glad I found you again. This granola looks yummy, I grew up with home made granola and would love to try it since my kids and I eat TONS of Granola! I think I might add 'flax' to the recipe (and pumpkin seeds) since Pumpkin Flax is our current favorite! I'll let you know how it turns out! Stop by my blog sometime when you get a chance - though I don't have any holiday decor posted yet ;)
